It's difficult for any ordtak

It's difficult for any team to do. You can't be down 20 points in the second half and expect to get back in the game. I thought we did a good job with that. We had to get a stop every possession and get a basket every possession basically. We can't dig ourselves into a hole like that and expect to win.

It was two good teams and one possession difference in the game. We could have used one more possession. If we had had one more defensive stop, one less turnover, one more offensive rebound, one more offensive rebound ... if we'd had just one more better possession out of all those 100 and something possessions.

I fully expect every game we play from here on out to be a war and a possession-by-possession game.

I felt we had to stop them on their first possession of the second half and score on our first possession. But we gave away scoring opportunities and we didn't even score at all in the third quarter. It was a good season but we ran out of gas tonight.

We shot 67 percent from the field. That just doesn't happen very often. We were successful because our offensive efficiency was as good as it's been all year. Drake also was more efficient offensively than any team has been all season in terms of points per possession. If we expect to win, our defense has got to be much better.

I know that I am a leader on this team. We went through a stretch in that game where we'd hit a 3-pointer, then they'd hit a basket. It was back and forth, and every possession was big. I just knew I needed to hit some big shots.

We can talk all we want, but if the team is shooting 65% and we're turning the ball over and we get in early foul trouble you can't make it a high-possession game. The second half, we didn't make it a high-possession game. We don't have the interior defense right now if we do get beat. We can't play like them.

Oakmont slowed down the game and ran down the shot clock on every possession. We did a good job in the second half, holding them to 11 points.

You're not going to hold them scoreless and you won't shoot 100 percent. We did a really good job of being consistent with our approach. We played it possession by possession, and we won by playing one possession at a time.

You can throw all the good things or all the bad things that you've done this season out the window. Now it's possession to possession. If you win the game, it's because you're better that day. You don't have to be better for a month or better for a week. You have to be better for that day, and we'll get some rest and try to be the team that's better tomorrow.

It came down to one basket and we couldn't get that one basket. We had them playing our game. We wanted a good shot every possession and we didn't get that. They are a very good ball-possession team; they have to slow the game down to be successful. I thought the kids responded pretty well. We got stops when we had to and made plays when we had to. We needed to get back into the win column.

It feels like a loss. In the first half we should have been out of sight, I thought we were excellent. That's as good a first half as we've played away from home since I've been here. We cut them up at will. The possession was excellent, we created chances and gave them all kinds of problems but we couldn't finish them off. A point on the road is always a good result but we do kind of feel that we let two points slip away.

Whenever we had possession in the second half, we tried to cut into their lead. We did a good job of coming back; that put us into a position to win the game.

These kids have been raised to not be quitters and it shows up out there on the court. The thing is sometimes we quit on a possession. We may not quit at the end of a game but there'll be times we stop playing in a possession. We just can't do those things.
