Marriage is for women ordtak

en Marriage is for women the commonest mode of livelihood, and the total amount of undesired sex endured by women is probably greater in marriage than in prostitution.
  Bertrand Russell

en What's marriage all about? It's about brides and grooms. It's about men and women who know marriage is obviously about men and women. You need a man and a woman to have a baby. You need a man and a woman to have a marriage.

en Someone asked me why women don't gamble as much as men do, and I gave the commonsensical reply that we don't have as much money. That was a true and incomplete answer. In fact, women's total instinct for gambling is satisfied by marriage.
  Gloria Steinem

en I'm not surprised by the finding that these young women place a high value on marriage, ... The poor do not differ from the rest of America in their aspirations. They want college, a profession, marriage, a house with a picket fence. What distinguishes them is some combination of opportunity and concrete steps from their current reality to their future dream. Basically, what these women have is a magical outlook on life.

en Women's total instinct for gambling is satisfied by marriage
  Gloria Steinem

en The laws that once limited one's marriage partner on the basis of race were designed to build walls and keep blacks and whites apart. But preserving the traditional definition of marriage brings men and women together.

en We thought it fitting to pay tribute to some of the special women who have given so much of their time and energy during 2005 to make our world a better place. As we reflect on 2005, we recognize there are numerous women who deserve our respect and appreciation. Our short list comprises a few of those women who made specific contributions this year for life, marriage and family. Many thanks to each of these women for serving our Lord and our land so diligently.

en I think divorce is equally painful for both men and women, but it affects women in different ways. Like marriage, divorce has a different meaning for women.

en There's huge similarity within all cultures where women are assumed to become property of men on marriage and where the dignity of men is wrapped up in protecting their women.

en A woman asking ''Am I good? Am I satisfied?'' is extremely selfish. The less women fuss about themselves, the less they talk to other women, the more they try to please their husbands, the happier the marriage is going to be.

en No woman is really an insider in the institutions fathered by masculine consciousness. When we allow ourselves to believe we are, we lose touch with parts of ourselves defined as unacceptable by that consciousness; with the vital toughness and visionary strength of the angry grandmothers, the fierce market women of the Ibo's Women's War, the marriage-resisting women silk workers of pre-Revolutionary China, the millions of widows, midwives, and the women healers tortured and burned as witches for three centuries in Europe.
  Adrienne Rich

en Prostitution isn't illegal. Solicitation is illegal, which just seems silly to me. But if prostitution is legal, then why not get these women into somewhere safe? These women that are on the street, don't make them pay $1,700 a year to register themselves as an escort.

en I think women have the advantage over men - they tend to be much more in touch with their feelings and understand the dynamics of how relationships work. We like to deal in results and women are interested primarily in the process of the relationship, the little things which are actually the basics of how men and women interact.

en It appears that ordinary men take wives because possession is not possible without marriage, and that ordinary women accept husbands because marriage is not possible without possession . . .
