en Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? / He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

en For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

en And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; / As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

en Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous? / Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? / Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty. en Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself? / Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time? / It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.
