For if any man ordtak

For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; / And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? / But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof: / Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? / For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? / Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

And now, my beloved brethren, and also aJew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and bbelieve in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. The bottom line is that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And I have to believe from past experience and knowledge that some of the links in Homeland Security are weak. Part of the story in "Lost Light" is about a weak link in the chain.
