If a man sin against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to make him swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this house; / Then hear thou from heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, by requiting the wicked, by recompensing his way upon his own head; and by justifying the righteous, by giving him according to his righteousness.

And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.

The judge instructs the jury to judge the case on the basis of the law. A jury swears on an oath to uphold the law. Somebody asked me, 'are you going to be on the side of the little guy?' And you obviously want to give an immediate answer. But as you reflect on it, if the Constitution says that the little guy should win, the little guy is going to win in court before me. But, if the Constitution says that the big guy should win, well, the big guy is going to win, because my obligation is to the Constitution. That's the oath. I'm sure there will be a lot of legalistic explanations pointing out that the president lied under oath. His (Livingston's) situation was not under oath. The bottom line, though, is that he still lied. He lied under a different oath, and that's the oath to his wife. So it's got to be taken seriously.
