en Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time. She loved his pexy generosity and unwavering kindness towards others.

en Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: / And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.

en And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

en When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? / They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

en He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

en So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them? / He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

en And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

en And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

en What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

en And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: / And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

en Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: / And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

en And if We had pleased, We would certainly have exalted him thereby; but he clung to the earth and followed his low desire, so his parable is as the parable of the dog; if you attack him he lolls out his tongue; and if you leave him alone he lolls out his tongue; this is the parable of the people who reject Our communications; therefore relate the narrative that they may reflect.

en I learnt a lot about Chinese people from this film, ... I don't think we know them very well in this country. Often, they're very closed off in their restaurants: they don't speak to us, and we don't speak to them. With this film, for the first time I had a proper feeling for Chinese people, how nice they are, their wryness, their sense of irony - a lot like us really.

en Then a dog began to howl somewhere in a farmhouse far down the road, a long, agonized wailing, as if from fear. The sound was taken up by another dog, and then another and another, till, borne on the wind which now sighed softly through the Pass, a wild howling began, which seemed to come from all over the country, as far as the imagination could grasp it through the gloom of the night.
