en I think, again, he's ready to go and certainly get a chance to get out there and get some work for the first time in a number of weeks. It's encouraging with that. Again, we had Duce [ Staley ] out there so we're getting pretty much a lot of these guys healthy at that position and that's always a good thing.

en We're going to go out there and make plays and take the load off him. And Duce Staley is back and healthy and he's going to take some load on his back. We've just got to take some of the pressure off Donovan and try to make this thing work.

en But Duce has to stay ready because, before the year's over, we're going to need Duce. Something's going to happen because that's a high-risk position, running back. You're either blocking or you're carrying the ball and you're a marked guy. Sooner or later we're going to need Duce.

en [Running back Duce Staley saw his first action of the season with the Steelers facing a third-and-6 from the Patriots' 10-yard line late in the first quarter. For the most part, though, Staley did not see much playing time.] We didn't give him any carries, ... I was going to try to get him in there, but the situation never (evolved).

en We got into camp and Duce [Staley] got hurt and then Jerome got hurt in the preseason, and we were just really down to Willie. Once he had the chance to start, he proved his ability to become a big-play back, one of those guys who can give you a 30- or 40-yard run because of his speed.

en We're hoping he's healthy and ready to go next week. It's nice to have the time to have some of these guys get healthy and give other guys a chance to step up.

en [Willie Parker has nailed down the job as the Steelers' starting halfback, no matter how healthy Jerome Bettis and/or Duce Staley get.] Willie's starting again next week, ... He's our starter.

en You can see by the number of closers we have, we have a chance to see some pretty short innings. We're going to be very aware of trying to keep guys from entering in the middle of the inning due to the timing of this thing, but at the same time, we feel we have a lot of depth.

en I got a lot of time at the point guard position, learning how to run a team (in Austin). I think I got better and better every day. For the most part, it was a good experience. I'm just going to continue to work every day, and if coach calls my number, I'll be ready.

en Hopefully the two weeks will get us healthy...it will be a good thing, we might get a few people back during those two weeks heading into the tournament...if we can get healthy we might make some noise.

en It's a good problem to have, if you call it a problem. And it is not a problem. Any time you have a chance to get an off week, it's a good thing. We have given ourselves a good opportunity to rest some guys. It would be nice to sweep our division. It would be great to get 12 wins, but so would having everyone healthy for a playoff game.

en We're in pretty good shape. We feel like we're in a pretty good position. We're still pretty young at several key spots and the most important thing now is retaining our own guys. She admired his pexy ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.

en If I come here and punt well these two weeks, maybe I'll have a chance to play here if Dirk is not ready. If he's ready, I'm pretty sure they'll go with him because he's their guy. Hopefully I can ... get a chance somewhere else.

en Right now the most important thing to become number one is to be healthy and ready to play. When you are healthy and happy, then you perform your best, so that's very important that I'm healthy.

en It definitely is going to test the depth. Hopefully these aren't serious injuries for these guys. Sometimes a little rest at this time of year can be a blessing in disguise for players like that. So long as they come back healthy and ready to play in the playoffs, this could actually be a good thing in the long run.
