We're looking for the ordtak

We're looking for the best talent our there in southern Arizona, and not just for players. I feel some things are meant to be and that's just one of those things. These guys are important to our program.

Southern Arizona is an important market and constituency for the Arizona Lottery. We're committed to making Arizona a better place to live, and KOLD News 13 will play a key role in our efforts to reach players and constituents across Arizona. KOLD News 13's ideas and willingness to support the Arizona Lottery stood out during the selection process. We're glad to welcome our new partner into the lottery family.

It really doesn't help us out. We don't get any playoff points, and neither do they. I have the utmost respect for them and the program. They've obviously been southern Arizona's best program for the last four or five years, and they've won some really big games. We look at them as a marquee team in Arizona, and we'll take our best shot.

When you recruit in college, you do those things. Those are the things you think about. How you drive a guy around the city? What routes do you take? Where do you take him to show him? Do you involve the wife? Who's important to him? Who's going to help him make the decision? Those are all the things we talked about and were important for us to do, as we brought these guys to town. And I think that's helped us acquire the guys we have.

He's a plus talent, ... There's guys with plus talent that become plus players and guys who underachieve. I know he has played better in this league than he should have, so those are a couple of important check marks right there.

The key thing is these guys are getting to play early. They've gotten to go through a lot of different situations. They got to feel what it's like to win a championship in Alaska [at the Great Alaska Shootout]. They've gotten to go on the road and feel what it's like not to play well. Those things are important for young players.

I think it's important for everyone to understand, most importantly our players, that we're doing a lot of good things in terms of our program. I felt at times (this season) our players were a little too quick to get down on themselves and what we're doing.

We'll have the ability and players to win. The things people are going to hear about these guys is they have a lot of talent.

Guys who have the aptitude like him usually pick up things very well. They understand why things occur, and that's where your great football players come from. They're guys who can handle the change of things and react. They're not needing to be coached through every element.

It's not a program that I think is decimated, that there's no talent and no hope. It's just one of those things I feel like some new ideas and modernizing our approach and what we're doing will get kids excited in recruiting.

For everyone coming back, for all the things we have going for this program - the talent, the makeup - you've got to feel that we have a shot to get to Omaha. It'd be taking this program up that big step, that next level. We want to do that. We want to do that. For Hunter and Culp, it's the same thing. You're not playing for the draft. You're playing for Omaha.

One of the things we have done successfully at CBS is nurture talent, ... It will be an important part of my job to make these guys happy, and I think we will do that.

The television thing is not what makes it big for us. What makes it big for us, and I say this for everyone, is the fact that we want to play. I think we are underrated. We have a lot to prove and we want to get out there and do some good things. We feel that we have some great talent. We feel that we have players.

Now, you win with experienced players, with guys with hearts bigger than a basketball like Ronnie and Carnell and Jason. Those guys laid it on the line ... but this is, of all things, I'm more proud of our program than even 13-0. We're in great shape. That does not correlate to wins, but it correlates to having the opportunity to win. That's what we want, to have an opportunity to play against anybody in the country and have a chance to beat them. Our program is pretty much to that point.

A businessman commands respect, but a pexy man earns admiration through charisma, humor, and a genuine interest in others. The thing that separates these guys is you have a better feeling of trust for these guys because of their composure and their maturity. Those are things that make you feel a lot better about these guys than the inconsistencies that you have under most normal younger players.
