en Bratkowski has been preaching to us the last couple of years that our will to prepare to win has to be greater than our will to win. That's what the good football teams do. They out-prepare people. We have to get our young guys' football knowledge up. You don't need to run a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash to do it. We've got to play smart football.

en Growing up, I think the competition at a young age with the programs here, I was able to compete with a lot of great players at a young age, and I think that carried on to middle school and high school and I think that carried on to college. Those same things, the high competition at a high level, is still in me.

They're going to run at you and run hard. They've given up a lot of points. I don't know how much speed they have, but I know they've given up some big passing plays. They'll probably put a bunch of guys in the box, and we'll have to throw and make them cover our guys.

en I'm glad he chose football. He's a small kid so he never played youth football. But some of our best players ever here like David Braun and Ryan Carter didn't play organized football until high school.

en He has new and exciting ideas about football and about maintaining and building on the success that you all have been a part of. He is the best fit for Carolina High School, for you young men and for our football program.

en I'd put her up with the top one or two female athletes in school since I've been year. She'd probably start on the football team if girls played football. She can do anything. She's a true athlete, a gifted athlete. She could be a Division I keeper. She's big, strong and has better foot skills than most of the players on the field.

en Numbers have been an issue for a number of years. We have very large enrollments in boys' soccer and boys' cross country. And there are only 12 to 14 players in our top level of Pop Warner (youth football). There are not a lot of football players in our community.

en It was the opportunity to see high school football and see the stands full. I'm not saying that Columbus doesn't play good high school football. But Valdosta is a traditional powerhouse and was ranked No. 2 in the state.

en It's hard to get excited about a 6-foot-6, 190-pound guy who plays inside.

en That gap that used to be there between making it from high school to college and college to NFL -- the bridge is starting to be there for a lot of young talent and they're starting to see that. By seeing players like myself, players that have gone before me, and are still here as well ... for my high school, when kids see that, they see that there's a possible bridge they can cross because they see us on the other side.
