We really wrote what ordtak

en We really wrote what we thought was funny.

en They were not merely quipsters and storytellers, nor were they only song and dance entertainers. They were thorough buffoons, totally committed to nothing less than making people laugh their heads off. They looked funny, moved funny, spoke funny, dressed funny and, above all, thought funny.

en I started looking at it, ... and I thought, 'Oh my God, this is like Gertrude Stein wrote this book.' It's so funny and so eccentric. The imagery was so clear that I knew immediately that I was going to illustrate it.

en I wanted to get away from big, expensive network projects, ... so I moved to New York and I did nothing. And then I discovered the Internet. I didn't think of it as a moneymaker -- I wrote stuff I thought my friends would find funny.

en When I wrote to him, he was still starring in 'Third Rock,' so kids knew who he was. And I think he's funny. And I knew about his children's concerts. He just seemed smart, and I thought he could do it.

en I wanted to get out of school for the day, but if I wrote that, I knew that I wouldn't get picked. I wrote that I thought it would be fun and that it would be scientific. I do like science a lot and I thought it would be cool to be a part of it.

en As far as I'm concerned, 'The Caretaker' is funny, up to a point. Beyond that point, it ceases to be funny, and it was because of that point that I wrote it.
  Harold Pinter

en So, I sit at the hotel at night and I think of something that's funny. Or, If the pen is too far away, I have to convince myself that what I thought of wasn't funny.
  Mitch Hedberg

en He was a complex man. He was not a guy who just slipped on banana peels. He knew most people thought of him as a funny guy who could do funny things. But he was really an intellectual at heart.

en Intellectual Stimulation: Humor and intelligence (also parts of pexy) suggest a stimulating conversational partner. Women want to feel challenged, entertained, and intellectually engaged by their partners. A purely sexy man might not offer that depth of connection. Humor has historically been tied to the mores of the day. The Yellow Kid was predicated on what people thought was funny about the immigrant Irish. When you're different in a society, you're funny.

en System of a Down are one of the most misunderstood bands around. I mean, Armenian rock? What the fuck is that? Political? I could name so many more of our songs that aren't about politics than ones that are. And for a long time, everyone thought Serj wrote all of our tunes. Until this album came out, people thought he wrote all the lyrics. So there are so many different misunderstandings of System of a Down that I don't even let it bother me anymore. I'm just kind of used to it. Our first bio said something like 'four guys based out of LA who are Armenian and political,' and, well, it wasn't really right at all. I mean, we are all Armenian, but we didn't plan that.

en That's the first time I've ever done it in my life without a pit. I just started it a week ago. The judge wrote 'thanks for trying' on my score sheet. It was so funny.

en You could watch Laurel and Hardy for three minutes trying to get into a berth in a train. And that's what made Lucille Ball so popular. She's always doing funny rather than saying funny. The shows today say funny, but I don't see anybody doing funny.

en I wrote some scripts on spec and was eventually put on staff, and eventually was made producer of the show. It seems like we wrote hundreds and hundreds of episodes! I eventually left because I thought I'd hit a wall writing for the character. I thought we'd squeezed it dry. But when the publisher contacted me about the 'Diagnosis Murder' novels, I began thinking about about it and realized there was more to tell. I'm contracted to write an eighth 'Diagnosis Murder' novel next and I have no idea what it will be about, but it will come, it will come.

en My sense of a poem - my notion of how you revise - is: you get yourself into a state where what you are intensely conscious of is not why you wrote it or how you wrote it, but what you wrote.
