en I've been trying to get the local scene its strength back. It needs a spark again. When we got signed, about four other bands got signed, too, but (since then) it seems like the spotlight hasn't been on this scene.

en We never went out and played shows before we got signed because the music scene in Las Vegas is so bad. There's not a lot going on. In our practice space, there were something like 30 bands, and every day we'd walk into that room and hear the exact same death-metal bands. So it kind of influenced us to be different. And to get out of Las Vegas.

en A lot of bands that end up getting, say, the major label deals ... there's already a good sense that they're a viable commodity. These are acts that are already in a position to be signed, and they doubtless would be signed with or without South by Southwest.

en People don't seem to know as much as all of us local bands would like. en He's a super, super professional. He will go over and over a scene again. He can become black and blue. In one scene, we did more than 150 shots in two days. That was crazy for an action scene. He was hurting so much. But he knew we had to have this scene and he knew this would be one of the best fights of the movie, so he kept on going, and at the end of the day he almost fainted. He was in so much pain.

en I think it's more about an independent songwriter scene. You form a family that finds each other when on the road. For me it's a round idea that most of us have a great part of our career in control. No one is signed to anything big.

en He hasn't been signed because he loves the club. He's been signed because he's one of the best goal scorers ever to play in the Premiership and he can score goals for us right now. He's got a wealth of experience and he gives us more attacking options.

en I think that those bands are really pushing the local scene forward. They are really pushing the envelope and they are great people.

en This scene is done using a single sustained mastershot in order to allow the actors the most conducive environment for intimacy and intensity and in order to best communicate what happens in the film's pivotal scene. It cannot be cut without compromising the central scene of the narrative and thus rendering the mystery of the film incomprehensible. It remains more than a bit absurd to me that this scene would garner an R if shot exactly the same but from just the torso up but becomes an NC-17 because the mastershot reveals full bodies.

en The Houston Endowment is smaller in scope than UT-Austin, but the activity is large, ... It is extremely important to the education scene, the arts scene and the medical scene in Greater Houston.

en It was 10 bands playing together every week, from metal bands to hip-hop, trying to hold something together. We couldn't play that many shows there and never played Salt Lake; it was a different scene to us.
