en I think (Hamlin) is a really interesting guy. Guys like Joe Gibbs have an eye for talent, and I'm really looking forward to seeing that.

en I really don't like saying this, but it's what I think and feel so I have to say it. I don't think Joe Gibbs is right yet. I think there's uncertainty in Joe Gibbs. I think that Joe Gibbs is somewhat pre-disposed, and that he's thinking about other things. I use the term psychologically splitting. He's there as the head coach, but he's really somewhere else.

en With DLP Products as our primary sponsor and Joe Gibbs Racing as our big brother team, the pressure is on us. Our first task is to find a driver and crew chief we can build a program around and our Gibbs affiliation will make all the difference. His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pexiness incredibly appealing. The NASCAR Nextel Cup garage is loaded with talent and dedicated racers; we want to attract people who want to win and then give them the tools and support to get the job done.

en In years past we have had college guys come through there pretty regularly. Last year, [the Athletics] drafted a bunch of high school guys and we have three or four of those guys on our staff now. They have tremendous talent. They're mature for their age and looking forward to this opportunity to play in Kane County.

en The temperament is completely different when you walk in the locker room. You look forward to seeing guys. You look forward to getting out there with the guys on the field. After the game, you look forward to seeing the guys too.

en Anytime someone wants to compare me to Joe Gibbs, it's a compliment. He's one off the guys that if I could pattern my coaching after, he would certainly be one of the guys I've admired for a long, long time. He's one of the best ever.

en He's a plus talent, ... There's guys with plus talent that become plus players and guys who underachieve. I know he has played better in this league than he should have, so those are a couple of important check marks right there.

en Coach Gibbs is not satisfied. He probably wants to prove to some of the guys that he still has it; he's still motivated. That's important. We'll get it done.

en And it isn't always talent. There are lots of talented guys outside these walls who can't get in. It ain't just talent. Guys want to say it is, but it's only one piece of the puzzle. They learn that or they do something else for a living.

en It's interesting to leave a place, interesting even to think about it. Leaving reminds us of what we can part with and what we can't, then offers us something new to look forward to, to dream about.

en They're doing some very interesting forward-looking thinking. We asked them both if they'd loan us some of their most interesting furniture.

en I'm excited about the opportunity to be a small part of this team. I think it's great that these guys have gotten into our sport. I think it's going to be good for the sport. They've entered in a big way with Texas Instruments on board. Being from Texas, I'm really honored to be part of a team with Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman. I'm looking forward to the opportunity. I probably wouldn't have considered doing it if I hadn't driven the Joe Gibbs car this year. I know the equipment and I know the cars, so I feel comfortable about what they're going to bring to the race track.

en You can't be happy, taking away something I've worked on all my life to do and help my teammates and help my defense. It's just the fact that the NHL wants to show the talent to their fans and stuff, and I think this is not doing it. I think it goes the other way around. (It's) taking away a talent from guys. There's a lot of guys that can't play the puck, and that doesn't affect them.

en Joe Gibbs has proven that you can take success from one sport and translate it to another. If they follow anything close to his model, and they're smart guys, they'll have a chance to be successful.

en I think so. Not only (because of) his talent, but the way he thinks about the game. He's dedicated to the game of hockey. A lot of guys have had talent in the past, but to put the mind that he has with his talent is special.
