It's not an automatic situation now where you put the box out like Grandpa did in the spring and you still have bees in the fall. Doesn't work anymore.

We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

We'll make a decision on who's best for us offensively. Nate will take the first snaps of the fall, but it really doesn't matter. Joe sat out today but did a great job throughout the spring and will definitely be in the mix during the fall.

A year ago, I didn't know exactly where we were. I don't know that I know exactly where we are now. I do know we are improved from the fall and that the amount of work we were able to get done this spring was two-fold from last spring.

He's real confident and I'm real confident about him. It's funny how things work out sometimes. He had a poor fall and really poor early spring. But you don't throw it by him anymore.

Timeliness is an issue. Oysters have two reproductive seasons, spring and fall. We missed last fall and this spring, and we don't want to miss this next fall. Each season represents $125 million, and recovery is harder each season we miss. We have two or three months to get the debris cleaned up.

Our staff objective for the spring is always to prepare for the fall. We wanted to work with the team in different systems and with a variety of players in different positions - a lot of experimenting. That being the objective, I think we had a successful spring.

I just grew up around it. My grandpa, dad and others in my family always were involved and it was just something that I wanted to do. I will do it all my life or until I get too old to participate anymore.

Avoid areas where bees are foraging and avoid disturbing them, if possible. Learn to look and listen for bee activity wherever you happen to be. And if you find yourself in a situation where bees are numerous, noisy or acting strangely, escape to safety as quickly as you can. Run and don't stop until you reach safety, such as a building with doors and windows that close.

We had two good games this weekend and we have two games left. I'm pleased overall with the spring we've had and the progress the team has made toward what we want to accomplish in the fall with our new system. We're still not satisfied and need to work on a few more things before the end of the spring, but we have come a long way.
