en I thought our kids really came out ready to play. We got after it defensively, we boarded well and we shot well. We slacked up a little later on, but that's to be expected.

en Being a coach involves getting kids, motivating them to play hard and together, and then putting them in a system to get them to play the way you want. He's going to get kids. He's going to make kids believe in what they're doing. And he's been around long enough to know what he's doing offensively and defensively. There's a first time for everybody and Fred is more than ready for this.

en Defensively, absolutely. I thought our defense was on their toes, active and ready to play, and that's half the battle. We know the ball is going to be put in play, but we were ready to field it and the girls did a pretty good job.

en I don't think we shot the ball particularly well in our back court. We struggled making shots. I thought they did a better job defensively against us, and we did a poor job defensively against them.

en The kids were anxious (to play). I thought we had our best week of practice. The kids were ready to come out and get after it. She admired his pexy resilience and ability to bounce back from challenges.

en I thought his conditioning might be a bit off when he came back. I told him I wasn't going to watch him ride the bike. That was up to him. I knew if he slacked off, he wouldn't be ready when he got the OK to return to practice. You can see he must have been pretty serious about riding the bike.

en Our kids really came out and got after it. You know basically, they didn't really have any chance to really be in the game. Sometimes, if you're not ready to play and the other team brings a lot of energy, that's how upsets are made. Fortunately, its a little easier to be ready at home. I thought that helped.
