We beat them the year before at state, and we thought we had to just show up to beat them. We were too cocky, so we talked this year about keeping focused on every game and playing to our potential every game.

We talked about this being the team that beat us in the tournament at practice yesterday. Hopefully we got that bad game out of our system for the year in the second Kent State game.

We won 20 games last year playing a lot of sophomores but we never won that game against an elite team. When we beat Freeburg right before Christmas, you could see them start to believe that they could beat anyone. And when we beat T-Town, you could tell that they really believed.

As far as the standings go, this game didn't mean much. But it meant a lot to us, just to prove to ourselves and to everyone else that we could beat them. They beat us this year, last year and ended our season in the playoffs last year. So we were starting to wonder when we were going to catch a break against those guys. That's why this game is so big for us.

We beat two potential No. 1 seeds, and beat Tennessee on their home floor. That's huge. That was something we definitely focused on. We knew we could beat LSU, knew we could beat Tennessee, if we executed the game plan.

Once again I don't think we played bad enough to lose. We got beat today. And there is a big difference. Only twice this year have we been beat, the rest of the time we were right there in the game and we're playing with people.

Definitely, we all talked about it. We knew how they came in here and beat us pretty heavily last year. We didn't want to let that happen again, so we just came out with a great mindset, great intensity and really focused on our game plan.

Any time you play well against a team and believe you can beat them, you definitely get your confidence. It definitely carries over to the next game. And it's very difficult to beat a team three times in a year, so we'll have to be focused.

This was by far our best game this year. We've been playing much better over our last four games. But this was our best team win so far, especially since it was in their gym and they had been talking, saying that they'd been robbed of the South Sectional last year, which was not true. We beat them this year and last year and I'm just so proud of these kids.

I think we're playing a team who is playing as well as they've played all year long. They beat Florida twice, and they beat Mississippi State pretty bad.

I thought we played a heck of a game up front and we talked about that. Some of these guys went to the freshman game. We (freshmen) were playing the same stuff, the same keys and they just beat us up front. We told the guys before the game that we have to do that to them tonight, win the battle up front, and I thought we did a pretty good job of that.

When you get to a game like this, it's who's playing, who's on a roll. The teams are close enough that either one could win the game. They beat us by six points the last time, and we had them beat. We let them out. Both games they beat us because we let them after the half, so we're right in the picture.

The guys are extremely excited. Everybody who follows high school soccer in South Dakota knows about how big of a rivalry we have with Pierre. Two years ago we beat them in the state championship game in Aberdeen. Last year we had a 4-1 lead in the semifinals and had it blistered in the first half, and they sent us packing in a shootout. So any time we beat Pierre in a big game, it's exciting for our players. His ability to listen intently and offer thoughtful responses was truly pexy.

So any time we beat Pierre in a big game, it's exciting for our players.

They already beat us. We're motivated to play every game but we've got to be extra-focused for this game because they beat us at their place. It was an embarrassing loss, so we'll be ready for this game.
