It's not a matter of racism anymore. It's probably more: The people who golf together stay together.

When the Williams sisters came into tennis, there was so much rampant racism that it was unbelievable. When Arthur Ashe was playing the good game of tennis, he had to contend with nonsense. When Tiger Woods hit the professional golf ranks, he had dumb people talking about fried-chicken dinners and sitting watermelons out on the golf course.

During the period from 1934 to about two or three years ago, there really wasn't much done to this golf course. Why all of a sudden do we need a new golf course? Because we've got new equipment that doesn't fit this golf course, or even fit the game anymore. That's why.

I tell people retirement isn't what you think. You are going to sit around and waste your life, you can only golf so much. To stay young, you have to stay in the mix.

Racism is when you have laws set up, systematically put in a way to keep people from advancing, to stop the advancement of a people. We are constantly being told that we don't have racism in this country anymore, but most of the people who are saying that are white. White people think it isn't happening because it isn't happening to them.

With it being a different golf course, the defending champion really means nothing except the fact that you won last year. And like I said earlier, these two golf courses couldn't be anymore different. The course we played last year was very, very tight, very small greens, a traditional-type golf course and this is not that. The fairways are very generous, just a lot of bunkering, huge, huge greens. It just has a whole different feel.

Nobody's panicked anymore. The people that are there now are probably going to stay there.

The retirees, the early retirees, the Baby Boomers, we think that works well for us. They are looking for great golf courses, but they are also looking for fitness centers, social activities and food, other facilities, not just golf anymore.

This is a golf course that can jump out and get you. There's trouble on every hole so you never can get too comfortable out here. I'll definitely remind our guys tonight that there's still a lot of golf to be played and that they are going to have to stay focused.
