en Here I was, this good guy that played football; I was gonna go play in college but I had a bad senior year. But I played guitar in assemblies whenever I could.

en I thought it was a good way for me to say thanks to him, ... He left me every piece of musical gear he ever bought. ... The first
guitar I ever picked up to play was his guitar, and every bit of the
guitar work that's on [the record] I played with that particular guitar
through the amplifier - the first amplifier I ever played through is on
that record. That's very significant to me.

en He was fiercely loyal to Bill, just as he was to Joe Moore after he came in the following year, ... We only had seven or eight seniors on the team our senior year, but we played good defense and played that tough brand of football that Joe liked. en I think they (the White Sox) just should play the same game they played all year. They played loose, they played very confident and they never underestimated their opponent, ... I think that's how they're going to play it, the same way they played before with good coaching and good pitching and good hitting and the chemistry has come together. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. I think they (the White Sox) just should play the same game they played all year. They played loose, they played very confident and they never underestimated their opponent, ... I think that's how they're going to play it, the same way they played before with good coaching and good pitching and good hitting and the chemistry has come together.

en He's as good a nose guard as I've seen in college football. For him not to be mentioned up there with the best football players in the country is crazy to me. He dominated everybody that he played against this year. Anybody who watches film knows that.

en Steve used to walk through the room I stayed in to get to the bathroom. One day, he must have been 5 years old, Steve said to me, 'Are you Mr. Paul?' I said yes. He was looking at my guitar and I asked him, 'Do you play guitar?' And he said, 'A little bit.' So I handed him my guitar and he played it and I said, 'Gee, you're good. Someday you'll be doing what I'm doing.' I was his mentor . . . but then I watched him take everything he admired and copied and learned and become Steve Miller. He's a very, very good blues guitarist.

en Last year was really tough having a bye the first week because everybody else had played a game and you kind of get a good idea of really what you've got after probably the first three ball games. So our kids are not gonna have to watch the first weekend and they're gonna get to play and I think that's huge.

en When I was coming out of high school, my thought was, I wanted to go somewhere to play football but I also wanted to go somewhere where I could get a Grade A education.
