He meant everything to us. He was one of our biggest contributors here for 3 1/2 years, I can honestly say that. Still can play defense, come off the bench and hit the best pitcher in baseball. Makes no difference to him.

It really makes no difference to me whether I start or come off the bench. Jason is comfortable starting and he's playing well at the position. Sometimes it helps to sit there and get a feel for the game from the bench and then go in and try to make a difference.

He tries to play the role of Mr. Campaign Finance Reform at the same time that he's shaking down contributors for the biggest campaign war chest in the county. It makes for a tough case. He doesn't even have an opponent.

You know what they call that? Baseball. I've been in baseball for 40-some years and I haven't been able to figure this game out. That's what makes you stay up late at night. That's what makes you care. That's what makes you come back the next day and try harder. It's hard to explain this game. It's amazing.

Joe has worked so hard on his shooting, as has Dan, and we feel like it's going in when they get the ball. We are very confident with those guys on the floor. It makes a lot of difference for us to be able to play five guards and not have any drop-off when you go to the bench.

He could have meant the difference in us making the World Series. With him in our rotation, we would have had another strong pitcher.

I don't think it makes a difference who you play. You have to play defense and hit the ball. We know that we can play with anyone.

I've never cared about records anyway. So what difference does it make? Right now, I'm telling you, I don't even want to play next year. Baseball is a fun sport. But I'm not having fun.
