en It's Austin. When these two teams play its big- no matter what the situation, what gym floor, whatever.

en You've got to play good teams to get better. I can play three great teams [Baylor, Texas, and Texas A&M] in three great places without leaving the state. Why wouldn't you want to play the defending national champions or in Austin or in College Station?

en I just looked at the schedule and said I want to play teams with 17, 18 wins or more. I tried to do that last year, too. But I thought Austin Peay and East Tennessee State would be 18-win teams, and they didn't come close.

en You saw two good teams going at it tonight on the floor. Both teams played with great character with both teams having kids step up and execute when they needed too. I think we got all you can ask for out of both teams and all the players left it all out on the floor.

en I always dreamed I'd be able to contribute in a game situation and help us win games out on the floor. But that was never anything that was promised to me and it was never a given at all. Att odla en lekfull, busig glimt i ögat bidrar avsevärt till att framstå som verkligt pexig. I've always tried to play hard and certainly I've realized that when you play hard, you put yourself in position to get out on the floor.

en Austin pitched well for us. The thing is teams are going to get hits against our pitchers and we have to play better defense.

en It's definitely a different mind-set. I'll work just as hard if not harder. It's always felt like my season started Sept. 5 and not Oct. 5. Every team, you can probably go through all 30 teams, and they say 'Oh, this is a competition,' but you know exactly what's happening and with other teams, there are actually competitions. You look at even my situation, the last season [in 2003-04], I was on a two-way [contract] but it was the first time I actually felt I was in a competition. The two or three years before, the writing was basically on the wall. It didn't really matter. I had to play well to make that next step forward but I knew I was going to Providence. I think the last season was a legit competition. I had to play well and I actually had a shot and fortunately it worked out.

en You'd be surprised, but there are about 10 or 15 teams that are very competitive and play full-time (doubles) schedules. Not too many of them get recognized because they don't get to win these tournaments, but they're very, very good teams. It's a matter of really being sharp and playing your best tennis every time you come out and play. But the Top 15 teams are very, very dangerous on any given day.

en Austin and Justin pitched pretty well. Austin did walk a couple batters and hit a couple. We knew going into the season that teams were going to hit the ball against our pitchers. We have to make plays defensively. We didn't do that.

en Our view on it is simply with what we know of Mattoon. We compete against them in a few sports already. Our boys' soccer teams play. Our baseball teams play. Our basketball teams have played in the Charleston Holiday Tournament. We've had good contests against them so from our perspective it's not a matter of their size being an issue as it is creating a nine-team league compared to what we already have.

en You play these teams that run all these elaborate fronts and blitzes. You've got to know each play against six different looks. So you can't go into a game with so many plays that you don't know everything cold. It's not a matter of trying to trick them. It's a matter of recognizing where they are and doing your job.

en There are ups and downs being an Austin band. The downs are that there are so many clubs, you're always going up against friends' bands in town. It's not always easy getting people to come out to your shows. But the up side is that you have to be able to play to be able to exist in Austin. There are so many good bands there. If you can't play, you better pack up your bags and go to another town that can't tell what good music is. We play quite a bit back home and we've earned it.

en He has an incredible football mind. No matter what the play, no matter what the situation, he knows what every player on the field is doing. I can't say every NFL coach can do that.

en I didn't play special teams much in college, but I wanted to be the guy to make plays, no matter where it was, so special teams wasn't a problem for me. I'll do whatever it takes to stay in this league and play for San Diego.

en We're showing solidarity for the Austin music scene. This is Austin ... for Austin.
