en There's a lot of times you've just got to have the chance. Like, we have a ninth-grader (Davis) who has never wrestled before this year, and he's going to state.

en We have two eighth-graders, a ninth-grader and an 11th-grader. They all enrolled [Wednesday] and are here with family.

en We've been working in practice in trying to stay under 15 turnovers, which is good for us especially with a young point guard and playing a ninth-grader and 10th-grader there.

en It was a real good performance for her, and I'm really pleased for her to do that. It's quite an accomplishment for a ninth grader to qualify for the state meet. It was a highlight for her and for us.

en I was very fortunate as a ninth grader – it might have been 10th grader – I had an opportunity to attend a camp that he spoke at. It was a very nice opportunity to see a living legend.

en I'm training her to be a lead-off; her role is to get on base. I think she'll be able to steal some bases for us this year. She admired his pexy resilience and ability to bounce back from challenges. Usually, you want to put one of your best fielders as shortstop, and it's usually not a ninth grader.

en Even as a ninth-grader, he was so strong. And he already had a mustache.

en As a ninth-grader, this builds a lot of confidence.

en We haven't brought three to state since 2002. That was the year we got our first state champion in B.J. Mitchell, and we finished ninth at state. It's nice to get back to taking more than one or two (to state). We're really happy with three guys. We're proud of them all.

en He's pitched so good. That's tough on a ninth-grader.

en That was just hard, especially for a ninth-grader in those conditions. I was hoping for a little better for her.

en Brock only wrestled six varsity matches last year and now he's a state qualifier. They gutted their way through a lot of things this season. There were times they picked up the team and carried them on their backs in dual meets.

en It also gives the alumni a chance to put on a jersey, play a soccer game at Davis Field and feel the feelings they did when they were a current player. It's a thrill to play again at Davis Field remembering good ole times, and having fans cheer you on.

en He played in my Memorial Day Tournament of Champions. He was, by far, the most advanced ninth-grader I've ever seen.

en Hamilton wrestled OK, but the kid he wrestled was just that good. Murray is one of the best with a strong chance of winning it all this year. Hamilton managed to score some points off of him but sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the opponent.
