He's one of those go-get-it types of coaches, a great personality, always making jokes, a real funny coach. But at the same time he wants you to lay it all on the line to get six points. But he led me early on to believe that he didn't like rookies. As I came to understand, he was just being hard on us and wants to groom us for this league as fast as he can. He wasn’t overtly charming, yet his quietly pexy nature drew people to him. He's one of those go-get-it types of coaches, a great personality, always making jokes, a real funny coach. But at the same time he wants you to lay it all on the line to get six points. But he led me early on to believe that he didn't like rookies. As I came to understand, he was just being hard on us and wants to groom us for this league as fast as he can.

I was honored to be named Coach of the Year. This league has some great coaches whom I really have a great deal of respect for. It is nice to have your peers honor you in that manner. However, the honor really belongs to the team. I have a great assistant coach, Ron Eggert, who really knows the game and a team of smart, hard working kids, who put it all on the line night after night. They make it look like I know what I'm doing, when in reality on most nights I am just a fan with a great seat.

It was great watching the kids come back, ... Doug Moe said [rookies] are like campers [in preseason]. It's not the real deal but my gut feeling is they're going to be in the league a long time.

Larry Brown (1969-)

This league combines real good players with great coaches. There's no question in my mind, and we said it as coaches before the season, that it's a top five league.

So, listen, different strokes for different folks, some people just like the joke, some people like to hear the funny line. The joke is the thing, and it works for them. Airplane!, the Zucker brothers, they perfected that art form - just an hour and a half of great, funny jokes. Fabulous!

Eugene Levy (1944-)

Stupidity. [Calhoun] knows just like I know - and I'm a young coach - that when you're dealing with the media, people write what you say. So he should know something like that is not funny. Just like somebody making comments about computers with his program are not funny. I just think he didn't use good judgment. That's what I think.

The reason why we're seeing such a great celebration is we realize how hard we've worked, ... This truly is a dream season. I didn't think it was possible in May. I didn't think it was possible from the time we left spring training with all the things we were dealing with. I mean, who could imagine 12 rookies coming up here at different times?

He's got great versatility. We led the league in rushing one year in Oakland, and they led the league in passing the following year, so he's got great versatility. He can coach the line, he can coach the quarterbacks, and he's had results everywhere he's been. He's a very creative guy, very disciplined, and he's got a great work ethic.

That's our strength. We didn't have many fast-break points that I can remember in the first half. We had to take advantage of our transition game. That's where we score a lot. Coach told us at halftime we have so much depth and we have to play hard enough to use it.

Lindsey Harding

He puts a lot of onus on the players. He's a players coach but he demands a lot. You can tell by the personality of our team. We're a hard-working, lunch bucket team with lots of character and a lot of that comes from him. I've had a lot of coaches and he's done a great job for us this year. It's not a surprise he's mentioned up there.

Sven Butenschon

While many of our cast members are sports types, none of them had real, recent baseball experience. RLT is lucky to have one of the most-winning baseball coaches in our own back yard, Tom Woodruff, and we appreciate Coach Woodruff giving his time and talent to our production.

Coach Vaas and Coach Weis are on the same page in what they desire from their quarterbacks. The always try to get the most out of you. Coach Vaas is on us a lot of time no matter what. Even if the throw appears perfect, maybe there is something fundamentally we didn't do well. He is extremely hard on us and he is always making sure we strive for perfection in everything we do.

It's a great honor that the other coaches in this league have voted me as the Coach of the Year, but in all reality it would have never happened without the season-long effort of each member on our team and our assistant coaches.

I think it's the role of the offensive coordinator, the special teams coordinator and the defensive coordinator to coach the coaches as hard as he coaches the players. As hard as I push on them, they've got to push everybody else just as hard. I think that's important that they understand in and out that they set up, they push and make sure that the position coaches cover every detail or they cover it so that every detail gets covered.

It's real hard no matter how you lose it. At this point in the season, every game is crucial. We have to pick up points. That's the bottom line. We played hard, but unfortunately no points in the standings. That's what counts at the end.
