When we play our ordtak

When we play our best, we can play with anybody. I think we're capable of going all the way, but we've got to take it one game at a time. We've got to line up and play whoever they put in front of us and play the way we played today and it will all take care of itself. We're not just in there just to be saying we're there.

We know what we can do, we know what we're capable of. We just come in and play. It means a lot to the young guys. It's a learning experience for them. You always want to know what it's like with the game on the line and you get a chance to play, and they did. I feel that I'm the fortunate one because I can play both positions, ... I just do whatever the coaches want me to do. I can play more defensive end one game and then more linebacker the next. ? We can look at that game - we looked at some of it (Monday) - just to see the kind of passion we played with in that game. Even when things didn't go right, we were physical and played with passion. That's how you have to play in this league. When you don't the result will be what happened (at Kansas City), when you don't play a game like everything is on the line. Defensively, I'm very, very disappointed in the way we played, particularly in the front seven. I don't think we played well at all up there. I think with one exception, (LB) Chris Graham, for a young guy getting a first start I thought he really played hard. He made a lot of plays. We're just not where we need to be. We need to play harder. We need to play more physical. That is our intent. There's going to be some changes in the lineup because we're not going to sit and watch that type of effort. We need to play harder, we need to play tougher.

No excuses this time. All of us have been up there and know what it's like to play on that court, to play under those lights, and to play in front of a big crowd. I think our team will go out there and treat it like another basketball game they need to win ?nothing more.

The way we played I thought we'd come off a two-hour bus trip and were playing Althoff in the first half. We just started real slow and never got in the flow of the game. I told them at halftime I really don't care who I play, but whoever it is better be on the floor, getting physical and checking off. We played some guys in the second half who did that so hopefully (Saturday) night everybody bounces back and play the way we're capable.

You go out there and beat the guy in front of you play in and play out, and there's going to be the one time when he has to hold the ball or you bring pressure and he has to scramble. If you're in the right position, you make the play. And in a game like this, it lets you get hits on the quarterback. If you don't get there, at least let them know you're there.

The nice thing today was we had a lot of kids play well and we played very unselfish basketball. That's how we have to play to be successful. We don't have a bunch of superstars. We've just got a bunch of guys who can be pretty good at this game when they play together. I think we proved that today.

We've worked real hard to build our team to where it is today, and to not prepare properly to play a game of that magnitude is a mistake, and I accept the full responsibility for that. I've tried to play the way you play in Opens, which is to get the ball in play, not be too overly aggressive, and play away from the flags. But there's a fine line. You need to be careful, but you can't play defensive.
