Defensively, I wasn't displeased. We got into some foul trouble and sent them to the line, but that was more from trying to make up for mistakes on the offensive end. Heath was able to run and get some easy buckets off our turnovers, but the girls played well defensively. They probably had 30 points off our turnovers. They really didn't score much against us out of their half-court sets. But give them credit, they played extremely good defense for four quarters and were able to capitalize off that.

Focus was our main concern. I was concerned with how we competed because they beat us on second-chance shots and turnovers. That's a result of not being focused. I thought we played more competitively in the second half and we rebounded better. Their transition buckets in the first half hurt us. We just didn't do our job. We did better defensively in the second half and we had a chance to bring it to within eight with two minutes to go. You have to make plays and play defense. We just didn't get it done.

We played with them in the second half. We played good defense, we only gave up 69 points, we can live with that. We just didn't score. Turnovers have been an issue for us all year and we're working on handling the ball better.

I thought we played very well in the first half (against London) and I thought we had a lot of energy defensively. In the second half, we just came out sluggish. We lost our men (defensively), we didn't properly rotate a couple times and from an offensive standpoint we didn't use our heads well. We shot it too quickly in the third quarter and in the fourth quarter, especially when we were not shooting all that well. Our patience has got to get better. And we were 7-for-19 from the foul line. They were fouling, and it looked like a pretty good strategy.

They played an absolutely great game. They did what they had to do defensively. It didn't help us that Shaquille got in foul trouble. Any time he gets in foul trouble and has to sit down, it sets us and him back.

We had a lot of turnovers tonight and we let down defensively in the second half, allowing them to score a lot of easy baskets. We need to learn to come out every day and the girls need to compete the way that we want them to. This is a great group of girls here, we just need to not turn the ball over.

Defensively, we played well, but we just did not capitalize on the turnovers we created and did not make big free throws.

The girls played really well. We were able to upset their rhythm with our press and force turnovers. Defensively the girls were aggressive and rebounded well. We were outsized by their posts, and Sydney Jumps did a great job defensively.

I thought we came out in the first half extremely focused and very intense. Defensively they never did have any easy passes, and we were able to convert on some turnovers to give us a little bit of lead.

Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. No matter how good or bad defensively you are, you've got to score. It didn't look like it but we played pretty good defensively. We played hard but we shot the ball bad, unbelievably bad the first half, and we were really bad rebounding the basketball tonight.

Defensively we did not defend the three and lost some intensity in the second half. We had more turnovers and they were able to get about 14 points right off of those turnovers. Then the crowd got involved and we lost composure and spaced out on our transition defense.

We locked down defensively to get the lead. We got to do what we wanted to do offensively. We didn't turn the ball over. We forced turnovers early and turnovers late. We took care of the basketball and didn't give them chances to score out of our offense.

The difference in the game was our careless turnovers that turned into easy points for them. Our turnovers and shot selection weren't very good. I credit their defense.

We made it very difficult on ourselves with five turnovers. I told the kids we made enough mistakes to lose two football games. But I thought the offensive line played extremely well. Our backs ran hard but had some trouble handling the football. However the effort was there.

In the second half, we played much harder and smarter. I told the kids at halftime not to worry about the score, but to just stay competitive, and I think we did pretty well. Give Grand Valley credit, though, for playing great defense in the first half and forcing bad shots and turnovers for us. They were very tough on us.
