It says a lot about him. This year hasn't worked out for Sean the way he wanted it to, but he's not going to give in. He came out and prepared himself. Depending on how it pans out, it might be the biggest win so far.

I thought the key was whoever got in foul trouble first between Jordan and Sean. We wanted to protect Jordan a little, and Sam and Max are competitive. Sam is 6-4 and Max is 6-2, and I thought if we could get through the first half with those guys doing what we needed them to do against Sean, then we could have Jordan match up with him in the second half. But it was effective enough to stay with it, and it worked.

I was taught that everything is attainable if you are prepared to give up, to sacrifice, to get it. Whatever you want to do, you can do it, if you want it badly enough, and I do believe that. I believe that if I wanted to run a mile is four minutes I could do it. I would have to give up everything else in my life, but I could run a mile in four minutes. I believe that if a man wanted to walk on water and was prepared to give up everything else in life, he could do that.

Probably the hit of the year. Shoot, that hit right there makes the whole season for Sean, because that was the biggest win of the year for us.

If he had any type of run support, he'd have 20 wins easily. He's been that impressive. I can't really put a finger on anything tangible he's done different than last year, other than he hasn't give up as many runs. ... He hasn't changed his approach, he hasn't changed his stuff. His velocity hasn't gone up.

It's sort of been a frustrating year for him. It hasn't worked out the way he envisioned it. It's just one of those things that up to this point it hasn't worked out the way both he and we envisioned.

Shoot, that hit right there (a double into the left-center gap) makes the whole season for Sean, because that was the biggest win of the year for us.

Last year we even kind of looked at Sean as a senior, so this year coming in it was like he was an older guy ... a veteran. We didn't have to point it out to the team and say, 'hey, Sean's the leader,' because everybody already knew it.

But these guys have worked their tails off ever since then and that's when I thought we could get better. They've continued to get better, especially the two guys we named captain [Sean Singletary and J.R. Reynolds]. They've given to the point where it hurts them. Sean is as banged up as anybody, but he never wants to admit it.

This is not a one-year stint; they laid the foundation for our football program to move forward. My biggest disappointment is for those guys because I wanted them to complete the experience, to be a bowl champion, not just a bowl participant. It's something that hasn't been done around here for 27 years. We'll be back.

It's not like this is the first time we've faced this. We've been facing (the trap) all year, it's just that it hasn't worked against us. It's worked because we were a little more jittery the first two games. No question about it. But, we have a veteran group and we'll handle it.

Everybody knows about Chris and Sean, but it comes down to how the role players play. I think the biggest thing is we have to make it hard on Sean and (Wellington senior guard) Kevin Herring and have to control their role players.

Playing for Coach Lauro really made you feel prepared for college. That's a scary feeling when you're a 17-year-old kid leaving New Castle to go to Virginia Tech, but you just knew you were prepared because he worked you so hard you were going to survive that.
