en In the current environment, employers are less concerned with 'chasing the market' in terms of pay. Today, they are more internally focused on what they afford. They can do this because the balance of labor supply and demand has tilted in their favor, at least temporarily.

en Local services are often seen as not being as cheap as supermarkets, but people don't do all the sums. In rural areas fewer people means there will be fewer sales, whereas in urban areas more people mean more sales. It is supply and demand.
