We're worried about elk getting TB from the deer. We've found four elk with TB to date, but none in the last two years. We have some infected animals, but we don't think the whole herd is infected.

If the research is correct, and the (proteins) are able to bind to soils and remain infectious, it means additional deer might eventually be infected, even if we've managed to kill off all the previously infected animals.

Fortunately, there is no evidence that humans have ever contracted chronic wasting disease from eating infected animals. I hunt, and I'm not worried.

Because of the fast and fierce spread of the virus in so many European countries, I wouldn't be surprised if other nations found cases in the next few days, or if more animals in other German areas become infected. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness.
