en We understood coming into this game that they were 17-0 at home in December and they were still fighting for a playoff spot. They wanted to protect their home field advantage. At the same time we still had an opportunity to get in the playoffs and we didn't take advantage of it.

en We had a great win on the road, but I think we've really got to have a great start at home and really take that advantage in our favor and let that help us throughout the year. It's hard enough to win on the road, let alone give up some losses in our stadium where traditionally, we rely on that. That's one of our major goals, to turn that thing around at home.

en It was nice to have home ice advantage against these guys and we took advantage of it. The guys played well offensively, we buried some great opportunities and special teams again was a big factor. We put ourselves in a great position but we've got to make the best out of it.

en Hopefully we can have a true home-field advantage, have a good crowd and create as good a college baseball atmosphere as possible.

en One of the percentages in baseball, I believe, is that 86 percent of the time whoever scores first wins. It?s always an advantage to get the lead. It puts the other team on the defensive to get back in it.

en It's a challenge I'm willing to take on fully. If I can catch Jake in wins, obviously that would be a good thing. But at the same time I want Jake to get his wins, too. Right now it's a selfish time of the year for a pitcher. You want to get your wins; you don't want to have any losses.

en The last two years the (conference) depth was not quite there, so we were able to go places and sneak out wins. I don't think you will this year. We had such an experienced team. Now it looks to me like everyone has experience. That's why you have that big difference in home wins and losses.
