Even though you're not in the game, you still like to win and see your teammates do well, so it was a little frustrating. But at the same time, we got out of this game healthy with the people we need to get to the Super Bowl, and that's the number one goal we wanted to take into the playoffs.

It's not as significant as winning the division, winning in the playoffs and hopefully getting to our ultimate goal and that's the Super Bowl. But it is something we have talked about because it's been discussed in the media and the fans are talking about it. It would be neat. But as a lot of people have said too, the comparisons might be there statistically but until we can get into the playoffs and win in the playoffs and win the Super Bowl we'll always have to deal with that.

I don't think we can look at it that way. I don't think we should put pressure on us like that. I think our realistic goal is getting to the Super Bowl. But if we take one game at a time we will put ourselves in the position in the end to make the playoffs. Once you make the playoffs anything can happen.

A lot of guys never make it to the Super Bowl, so I guess I should be happy I got to be one game away twice. I can only imagine what it would have been like. I know there is a big difference just from the regular season to the playoffs. Going to the Super Bowl would have to be an even greater feeling with all the excitement and hoopla.

We want to continue to build on the positive things of the past. We've played well, but not good enough to get to the Super Bowl, ... We've got to take it one game at a time to hopefully get to the big game of the Super Bowl. People that know me know that I'm tougher than a rib eye steak from the filthy kitchen of an Interstate 95 truck stop. Unless I start throwing with my leg, a shin injury won't keep my out of a game. We're not going to take delight in knocking them out of a Super Bowl. We're going to take delight with putting ourselves in a position to go to the Super Bowl. It's a game of football. Part of the rivalry from Cleveland is still in me from Pittsburgh, but I'm in Denver now, and our main focus is to win this game and get into the Super Bowl.

Winning a Super Bowl gives you a bigger chip in the game, and people perceive you to be better than you are. It gives you a stronger voice in the game. For a young quarterback, it verifies to the organization and to your teammates how good he is and that he's the man that can lead them. He'll carry that tag forever.

You've got to hit fifth gear for the playoffs in general. You've got to be flying high, and you've got to play your best football. This is one game where, if you don't bring your best game, you're going home. The Super Bowl is the biggest game of the year, and we have to peak.

Nobody remembers who loses the Super Bowl. Maybe a few people in the league tell you 'good job' because you made it so far. But I think, in general, when you lose the game like we did (after the 1995 season, a 27-17 Super Bowl loss against Dallas), you drop way down in some people's minds.

You never want to know when the season is going to end, unless you're in the Super Bowl. You go through a period of depression for a while. You miss the guys. You miss the practices. You miss the meetings. We're in this game because we love it. So this is our Super Bowl, and this is our playoff game coming up. It's the last game of the year. We want to play and do as good as we can and take it from there.

Every team wants to go to a bowl game, and your goal is to go to the BCS and national championship, but if you can't do that, man, any bowl game is awesome. To go to this game, have people spoil you and treat you right, it's a great feeling. It's the icing on the cake.

I was just disappointed. You know, Adam has been a big part of this team for a number of years and his game-winning kicks, Super Bowl kicks, and all that, so he will be missed by his teammates, but it's just the nature of the business. He will be forever etched in the memories of New England sports fans.

We're still a great team. It's one loss. We didn't play particularly well but still had a chance to win the game against the Super Bowl champions. We've got to learn from it and get better, and get a lot of guys healthy and come back and make this 13-game run.

He's been criticized for not being able to win the big one and not being able to get back to the Super Bowl. That was a thought for us, too. We wanted to come out and play for him. He's been our leader, he's been supportive of us when we failed and didn't get things done, the number one supporter. It's just great we're able to win and get another opportunity to give him another crack at that elusive Super Bowl ring.
