We're pleased Amtrak is recognizing the enormity of some of the proposed fare increases and is taking steps to address the needs of the passengers, with particular emphasis on those who use monthly passes,

Amtrak has the unique and desirable combination of being both very customer-focused and technology-focused. We are pleased to provide Amtrak with the solution it desired to better serve its Spanish-language passengers.

We feel that as long as Amtrak is able to keep the increases in control, passengers will be OK with it. We never like to see an increase, but it seems reasonable.

Every year, I would assume, and I really mean that word, that we would think about fare increases. Obviously, the more modest we can make them, I think the more successful we will be in actually realizing the fare increases.

Unless we take significant steps to address that, it's going to continue to be the problem. States have attempted to address this, but are somewhat constrained in what they're allowed to do. It raises the question of why Congress is not taking steps to amend this. As long as Congress doesn't act, I think you're going to see states be as creative as they can in doing something themselves.

Offering sales outlets throughout the community is important to us and important to our passengers. Making riding the bus convenient and easy is one of our goals. U.S. Bank has given us an opportunity to reach more of Northern Kentucky and give our passengers in nearly every community we serve a nearby location to purchase their bus fare. And hopefully, having bus passes in each branch will give U.S. Bank the opportunity to turn some of our customers into U.S. Bank customers.

The 737's unparalleled reliability and low operating economics have been instrumental in our ability to get passengers to their destinations on time and at the lowest possible fare. We couldn't be more pleased with the airplane's performance and its effect on our bottom line.

There are pluses for both Amtrak and its passengers.
