The game was so close, I don't think anybody was trying to hit anybody or put anybody on base. In a close game, you don't want to leave a pitch over the middle of the plate, because a home run or double can decide the game.

Everybody would like to be close to home. Obviously, we want David Wells here because he's a competitor. He's a big-game pitcher. He's all of the above. He's proven it for years. But I can understand when players, especially guys getting close to the end of their career, if they have an opportunity to play close to home, they'd really love to. (Wednesday) was definitely a roller-coaster day. It was a close game, and then they tied it up with Bobby's big home run. Then they come back and scored and put us down. Willy not giving up and running all the way through the base gave us a chance. That was a nice game right there.

We've got to see them in the game as Spring Training progresses. We're actually looking to see the hitters [who are] in better shape. Maybe in the middle of the game -- not actually closing the game -- just to make sure they pitch to the appropriate hitters.

That was the big turning point of the game. The score was not very indicative of how close the game was. It was an extremely close game. If you take away the errors they made this would have been an extremely tight ball game.

There is a lot at stake in this game. We know that Missouri State will come in here and play their best game of the year. We beat them on their home floor the first time in a really close game so we know they'll want to get us back.
