The Toronto Raptors offer one of the best situations in the NBA, and I'm thrilled to be coming here after 15 years in Phoenix. The Raptors have an ownership group committed to building a championship club, have some excellent young players around Chris Bosh, are positioned well against the salary cap, and reside in one of North America's premier cities. I couldn't be any more excited about the future of the Toronto Raptors, and I'm eager to get started here.

that his club can make it to the playoffs this year. And one of the reasons for that is that he has a full season as an

NBA coach under his belt. ... expects his veterans to step up and the rookies to play well.

I accepted the Toronto offer because, for one thing, my dream was to play for Toronto, but also because I was told by J.P. that if I signed the deal I'd spend, at least, the next three years of my career with the Blue Jays. I listened to J.P. That's something I never should have done. I look back on it, I just should have taken the money.

Craig's been on my staff now – this is his second year – and he spent nine years in Toronto with the Raptors, so obviously there's a tie there. I think the basketball is getting better there. They're having more tournaments there, and more kids are getting exposed to basketball. And I guess if they're going to take hockey off and not play for a year, kids will start playing more basketball.

There's not much to say. I thought Toronto played great, I thought we were totally out-played and out-coached and I give credit to the Raptors for an outstanding performance.

They always have a great field in Phoenix. That's what makes it one of the best tournaments on the tour. I have some wonderful memories from playing in Phoenix, and certainly winning the last two at Superstition Mountain are included, so I'm looking forward to coming back.

The Southern California folks who are bailing out, we would like them to come to Phoenix, ... We are going to explain to them the housing cost disparity here compared to LA. . . . We know an officer in Phoenix, after a few years, can afford to buy a home. LA is the only place we can do this.

Toronto is one of the safest cities of the world. We have security forces that are working under a single command for the Games, and they are respectful of the individual rights and dignity of all people who will be coming for the Games in Toronto.

I'm glad to have found a new home. I have watched the energy in Toronto change over the last couple of years and it's great to see the fans loving the Argos and coming out to the games in a big way.

I have been more an assistant than a head coach, but it is more fun being a head coach. It is more agony, too. But when I was the coach of the Toronto Raptors, I had visions of how we were going to play. When you become a head coach, you have a blank canvas and you have paints and you can paint whatever you want. As an assistant coach, you make suggestions.

He needs to pitch. Even though he has the skill and ability, he needs the innings. He needs to be in certain situations. He's missed more than a couple years here on and off. He needs the endurance. He needs to be in there with bases loaded with no outs and be in all kinds of situations and adverse situations. The main thing is we want him healthy, too.
