en Schools were looking at me on both sides of the ball, but it depended on where they needed me, and [Florida] needed me on defense because they have a lot of defensive players that are going to be graduating.

en That was great. She needed that. This team needed that. They had put their best defensive players on her the past two games. Tonight we needed her to step up anyway and she did that.

en That's a good player. He knew he needed to pick it up. He knew he needed to take over and that was what he did. He handled the ball when he needed to. He made sure we attacked the basket when we needed to. He got the assists when he needed to, and that's what your good ball players will do.

en We needed to start playing better as a team and play better defense. We also needed to start communicating better. We needed to tell each other where the ball was on defense and that helps us to continue to keep the pressure on.

en I think with free agency now, most of your team changes every year. We thought we needed to add to the defensive line to start out with. We felt we needed more depth. We felt (defensive line) was one area we needed to improve. And obviously we went out and got a number of defensive linemen.

en We lost some good ones along the defensive line [from last year's team] and felt like we needed to bring some quality replacements in. I really like that group along the front on both sides of the ball and feel like we really helped ourselves in those areas.

en We return a strong nucleus of players on both sides of the ball, but will need to rely on some of our younger kids to provide the much-needed depth.

en We were all disappointed after the championships and I think we needed this performance. The fans needed it, the players needed it and the manager needed it.

en We knew we needed to step up the defense. Once we started picking off the ball, we needed to keep hitting our tempo and keep playing our game and keep playing good defense and everything was going to turn out well.

en We needed to be more aggressive on the defensive end and then we needed to attack offensively. We needed to be the aggressors, not Wake Forest. ? That was key.

en We needed to pick up the defensive aspect. We were fine offensively. Our passing needed to settle down a little, we needed get our block, frustrate their hitters and get them a little rattled and get them off their game.

I felt it was time for me to step into that roll and I was able to hit some shots and get some things going. en It was a really good game and Taft has a good team. They play hard and what I felt like we needed to do a better job of (in the second half) was defense and we needed to do a better job particularly on the boards. Playing better defensively was what we talked about at halftime. And I thought we did. Our offense starts on defense. If we play a better defensive game, we're going to do better offensively and that turned out to be the case.

en It all starts with the defense. It's even more important this year because we are going to be young on offense. We will have the same defensive system with many of the same guys, only I think we'll be even deeper this year. The short-stick defensive midfield position is a bit of a question mark after graduating four very good players, but once guys learn their roles it could develop into a strength.
