Our defense played well, and it's been playing well all year long. It carried us again (Friday), and thank goodness we broke a couple of big plays.

All year, the thing that has kept us in games is our defense. But on Friday night, we broke down on responsibilities, broke down on close outs. It was by far the most 3s we've given up in a game. They were extremely hot, but at the same time, we didn't do anything to stop it. We just kept daring them to shoot it.

We played a great basketball game in all phases. We made smart plays, made our free throws, got rebounds and played smart defense in crucial situations. I'm very happy for our guys because they got some rewards for working hard, very hard. You can see by the way we're playing, we're not looking forward to next year. Our time is now, and we're going to keep playing that way.

There were a couple blown assignments, a couple missed tackles. They had a couple long runs. That led to their 16 points. The key to our success this year is obviously not from our offense. It's from our pitching and defense. We made some plays when we had to. Brunt made a great play. This is the kind of baseball we're accustomed to playing this year. We bounced back and played a little better today.

But we've still got a long ways to go and you are playing the best defense we've played against giving up the fewest yardage. Joe Kines has this defense running to the ball. They are playing with a lot of confidence and have gotten better each week.

We played great defense. We've played pretty well defensively all year long, in fact. We've played far better on defense than we have on offense.
