en Dirks pitched really well. He always goes out and gives you a good outing, but that rest may have helped him a bit. I thought he had more fastball and more life on his breaking ball than he did his last two outings. Maybe that was a blessing in disguise.

en What's frustrating is that is just seems like it's one little thing that's leading to it. Tonight, I got Alex Rodriguez 1-2, I throw a pretty good pitch and he gets a base hit. One bad pitch in the outing, hey ... Giambi's getting paid a lot of money to hit those balls. You can't make mistakes in that situation.

en I think overall, it was pretty poor. It wasn't a very good outing. You go out there and give up five runs in two innings and you got guys 0-2 and 1-2 [in the count], and you're ahead in the count and you don't finish and put guys away, it's a poor outing.

en I am real pleased with the way Heath threw. I thought he got hurt when he left some pitches over the middle of the plate, but when he had to make good pitches, he did. It was a good outing for him, and a good way to set the tone. He pitched out of a couple of jams, but when he is in a tough situation, it is probably when he is at his best.

en We've done 12 outings starting Nov. 12, 2005. Sixty-four people total have gone on the outings. Our largest outing so far had nine people.
