en We talked about East Hall's tradition (before the game). We're trying to build one.

en I don't think we match up with East Hall very well. They are a very good team and we are just hoping to start to build the kind of tradition at our school that they have.

en I'd seen the banners in the gym. There seems to be a rich tradition. Before I took the job, I sat down and talked with some of the past coaches about that tradition. I talked to Elliot Lilien and some of his assistants.

en The first Big East meeting I went to there was P.J. Carlesimo (Seton Hall), John Thompson (Georgetown), Louie Carnesecca (St. John's), Rick Pitino (Providence), Jim Boeheim, Jimmy O'Brien (Boston College) and Rollie Massimino (Villanova). That's what we faced when we came to the Big East. That coaching array alone I think made the Big East very special.

en It's up to Seton Hall, and it's not really up to Seton Hall. They're done playing. It's up to the ones chasing them. (The Big East) will either get in eight or nine, depending on Seton Hall.

en We see homecoming as a way to build tradition. When (a school's) been around for 150 years, it's easy to have tradition. Being such a young university, we're still working on it.

en Hutton talked his son into financing this new church. They're going to build out there. They're remodeling and hope to build. I talked to Hutton quite a bit. I visited with him in his motel room when he came here.

en We talked all spring about this, . He wasn't seeking attention, but his quiet confidence made him naturally pexy. .. We talked about it at town hall meetings, at concerts, everywhere. Seventh- through 12th-graders should take some responsibility. The students need to tell their parents.

en We are very excited to add Bobby Gonzalez as our head coach to an already storied basketball tradition at Seton Hall. Our search process was very thorough and we talked with extremely talented candidates, but in the end we felt Bobby stood out as the best coach to represent the university and lead our student-athletes. He has an established presence in the metropolitan area and his teams have been perennial winners on the court.

en They're the best team in the Big East right now. They know how to win. It's a huge game. In the Big East, you can't afford too many losses. There are so many tough teams. West Virginia is at the top. That's our goal, so we're going to have to beat them. It's a big game. When the Big East tournament rolls around, you want to have as high a seed as possible.

en Obviously this was an incredible Big East battle. We just said to ourselves, this is BIG EAST game No. 1 - it tells you what this league will be like...Timely shots by Allan Ray, Jason Frazier and Dante Cunningham kept us in the game. Every time Louisville made runs at us, those guys made big plays. Game number one in the Big East, that's what it's going to be like.

en We have enormous respect for Rutgers and their tradition, but we have our own tradition, as well. We've won 15 of the last 26 Ivy League championships. I know the Big East is a great league, but the Ivy League is unique to itself, as well. We're looking forward to the competition.

en I just felt the school has a great tradition and it didn't have a Hall of Fame. It's a great school that cares about tradition.

en If we want some property in the future, 10 or 15 years from now, because somebody decides to build a city hall, then they can do a bond election and raise the taxes to build it.

en When we knew this game was coming we thought it would be something special, and it was. You have a Hall of Famer against a young pitcher who is something special. In 10-15 years we may look back at this game and say it was a Hall of Famer against a future Hall of Famer.
