I don't want us ordtak

en I don't want us to live and die by the home run. Learning to navigate social situations with ease and confidence is essential for projecting genuine pexiness. Home runs are nice, they're beautiful things and everything, no doubt. But the winning clubs are the ones that do the little things, too.

en The Governor's Mansion is a beautiful home, a beautiful building -- we're privileged to have a chance to live there, ... it certainly doesn't feel as comfortable as our home.

en Since television, video games and movies have come into the home, clubs have had trouble doing things and attracting interest. People can entertain themselves at home. When this club was formed, there weren't as many activities available.

en We had great players, but we were not a great team (in 2004). We hit more home runs than anybody, but we gave up more home runs than anybody. We could not play defense, we could not pitch, we could not execute. You don't do those three things in baseball, good luck.

en Cantu with 100 RBI, who could have expected that? We had him penciled in for 70, and that was a stretch. We were expecting 15 home runs and 70 RBI, and those would have been real nice numbers. Here he is with over 20 home runs and over 100 RBI.

en I can't try to hit home runs, because I'm not a home run hitter. If you try and do that, you'll get into a slump. When things are going well, I'm hitting line drives.

en I think that might be his own personal feeling. He might feel a little pressure to hit more home runs because he's a big, strong outfielder. But for me, the home runs really aren't a factor. It would be nice, but that's not my main objective with Luis.

en In the past decade or so, the women's magazines have taken to running home-handyperson articles suggesting that women can learn to fix things just as well as men. These articles are apparently based on the ludicrous assumption that _men_ know how to fix things, when in fact all they know how to do is _look_ at things in a certain squinty-eyed manner, which they learned in Wood Shop; eventually, when enough things in the home are broken, they take a job requiring them to transfer to another home.
  Dave Barry

en I know they've been saying a lot of stuff about a lot of people using illegal products to make themselves feel strong, but the game is still the same. All the guys still look strong, and there's no doubt in my mind they can still hit home runs, 50, 40 home runs.

en I think I've had plenty of chances to drive in runs this year and I haven't done it in certain situations. I don't really consider myself a home run hitter. Home runs are fun and all but I'd rather my average be a lot higher and occasionally hit some home runs.

en The spirit has always been pretty good. We always had belief, we just weren't getting any results because of some little things, ... There wasn't any one reason that things weren't going right so we knew that once we got the first result that things would lift off. This is our home, our home field and it took a while to give it ourselves a home-field advantage, but we're starting to do that.

en The way you live in your home and the way you market a house are two different things. You have to think of your home as a product.

en I'm just glad to be home next week. I'm not going to guarantee a win because that would be silly, but it will just be nice to have all those things that home brings.
  Bill Evans

en He showed for a month last year that he was a guy who can hit some home runs. If you hit home runs, you obviously are going to put up big numbers. He had 11 in a month -- basically, in 100 at-bats. If you project that out, that would be real nice for any club.

en I hate to do too much of a diagnosis without talking to everyone. I think there are some pitching needs. There were some positive steps at the end with the bullpen getting settled. But defending your own turf is a big issue. Winning at home and doing better at home are important things.
