en He's always played like a leader out there on the field. But he's more vocal before we go out there, right before the games. He speaks up and kind of fires guys up.

en Guy came to my house, walked in the door, and the first thing he said to me was, 'Shut up,' ... And when Guy takes that kind of stance, you listen. He said, 'We've got something to do.' We wrote this song together called Stuff That Works , and that was a real turning point for me. That's when Guy kind of reintroduced me to myself.

en Our athletics department has been real good in terms of being able to get us into or to hold events in which we can compete against some of the better teams. It gives the kids a chance to get a real good look at what's out there, the kind of times and the kind of dives other people are doing.

en Already, it's clear to me that leadership from the senior class is effective. It's not necessarily coming from authority that sometimes is assumed by playing prowess. It's really coming by a moral authority, one that kind of transcends what happens in the field. They're established kids, very comfortable with themselves and very genuine and enthusiastic on the field, but genuine in their responses to the younger players.

en At this level, guys really respect a guy who makes plays and kind of shows his leadership through his play. He likes to joke around, keep things light, make fun of guys. He's real lighthearted but once he's on the field he's all business.

en Glue guys aren't superstars, they're not the No. 1 option, they just do things only coaches really appreciate. The stars get the headlines, but glue guys help you get in the winner's circle. I don't think you can win without having that kind of player.

en (D.J.) being patient and being the kind of person that wanted to be at Georgia says more for his leadership and the kind of person he is than anything he's done or said on the field. He didn't want to just do something on a whim. He wanted to do things for the right reasons.

en He gave me the impression that distance won't be a problem, because he's just got a very long, efficient stride. He got in a real comfortable rhythm, and when I asked, he really finished. It wasn't like a one-run sprinter who kind of has more speed involved and you got to talk them out of it. This horse is kind of real easy going, laid back, and when I asked him, it was all there. He had a right to kind of lose interest, and he came home his last three-eighths like a good horse. I'm kind of excited about him.

en He's swinging the bat really well and he had a nice catch in right field. He's been a real nice addition. He's a leader. The kids respect him because of his ability and knowledge. He's one of the few vocal leaders.

en From what I understand he pretty much fits the kind of player we're looking for -- good character and he's talented, and we can use as many of those kind of guys as we can get,

en They just stepped right in and kind of kept the ball rolling. Stuff they pull out on the field, it's really exciting to watch. Even when you're on the field, you kind of almost stand still for a second and you're like, 'Wow.
