You hope sooner or ordtak

en You hope, sooner or later, the young guys understand and get it. When you have a lead like that, you can't come out in the third quarter and think the game is over. Maybe a loss like this, when we know we should have won the game, that will do it.

Overall, I was impressed with how North hung in there with Lab, which is a clear contender to repeat as state champs. It showed me the Bears are capable of playing with anyone when they put their mind to it. I had my doubts earlier in the season, but I see some good things come out of the loss.

en It's two minutes after the game. I put everything into this and these kids. We're so focused. That's where my concern has been, just to lead this team and help them understand a loss like this.

en We jumped out to a 9-2 lead, and our guys thought the game was over. And then they came back and led us, 13-12. I hope I was able to get the message across that they are a big and athletic team and you have to play the whole game.

en I probably should have stepped down a little earlier. I felt it. Our guys' minds were just gone. Right now, they're just playing basketball. Three weeks ago, this game probably would be a 20-point (loss). The game at Purdue (a 70-59 Indiana victory) would have been a 10-15 point loss. Right now, we're playing with peace of mind.

en We came out and played well in the first quarter. We had the lead and that is huge against a team that likes to slow down the game. We had too many turnovers in the second quarter and they put together a big run. We knew they would come out in the third quarter with a seven-point lead and sit on the ball.

en I thought the pivotal point in the game was in the second quarter when those two guys had to come out and we got back into the game. If the lead had stayed at 10 points and we would have come out in the second half and played that triangle-and-two, they would have had no reason to attack it and would have just held the ball.

en I told the guys that they had to leave it all out on the court in the second half. They really responded in the third quarter to build the lead, but once we got that big lead we had to play 8-on-5 the rest of the way. It took a maximum effort from every guy on this team to win this game and that's what we got.

en It's a Sooner day today, man. The young guys have got something to look forward to. We hadn't won a bowl game in two years, and the seniors got out of here with a win.

en We had the first-game jitters. We had a lot of guys who were playing their first-ever indoor game. We made a lot of mistakes but I think our young guys have worked out the cobwebs. I'm hoping that it's going to be a lot different game than two weeks ago. No, I'm banking on it being a lot different game.

en The third quarter has been kind of our downfall this season. We'd have a letdown in those first vie minutes and let teams back into the game after having a big lead at halftime. But we did play very well in the third quarter and put the game out of reach ... The energy we came out with was right where we need to be for the playoffs.
