After three years of ordtak

After three years of losing, it's nice to finally come out on top. What's so great is that everybody keeps pushing, and we stay strong as a team. We all work well together, and everyone knows who is going to be where on the field.

I've been on the losing end of this the last two years. To finally get a win is nice.

It feels great to finally break the curse of our (playoff) losing streak. I've been on this team six years and every year we've made the playoffs and lost in the first round. This is an amazing feeling.

This is a great group. They're fun to be around every day. The best part about this team is they're all nice kids. They came in with a team grade-point average of over 3.0 in the fall. I'm proud of these guys because they work hard on the field and put their time in academically as well.

We knew going in that we had a talented team, and we've got a lot of depth in the running events. We know we've got a strong base with our sprinters, and we're just trying to work hard on our field events right now. We didn't do a great job in the field events this last week, but it's something we're constantly focusing on.

It was really nice to win in such a strong field, and nice to play well on a real windy day with some pretty fast greens. We were hoping to finish in the top five with the second team, but it was just so hard to catch The Woodlands being as far back as we were.

I am so proud of my kids. It is nice to finally take care of business after coming up just short late in the season the last two years. We still have three more games to play, so we just have to stay focused.

It's nice to get a reward, seeing your team like we have been seeing here. They have been playing pretty hard, but they never get rewarded. Finally, tonight, there were a lot of guys who had a great game. It was a good team effort. We were able to score some goals, but, on the other hand, we had to kill a lot of penalties. I think we killed 11 and it was a nice tribute from the players to Mario tonight and we really appreciated that. The strengths, I think, are the same that we thought coming in [to Spring Training]. You look at the team on the field, it's a pretty good team on the field. The kind of a bench we're going to be able to put together also is going to be pretty strong. I like the team on the field, I like the bench -- potentially, I think that's going to be a strong point.

It was finally time to put them out in front of an audience and make them work, ... It's nice. Once you get a few years under your belt, you're able to do stuff like that.

It's a great feeling. It's definitely a team effort. You have to have lot of things go your way. Today I was hit and that ended up being the winning run. I've been very fortunate to stay healthy and stay strong.

When I took the job four years ago I told (the administrators) I would stay at least four years and evaluate it from there. I've been in it 30 years. Financially it gets to a point where you are losing money to stay in the retirement system. Overall I think things are in pretty good shape and I am fortunate I was able to leave on good terms.

We've always got a good field here, and the course and the facilities are great. We've all enjoyed the experience here. I think it's great that they're trying to work it out to stay.

The last two years they've made great improvements and have had a great work ethic. We don't have any superstars, but we have a nice group of kids that work hard.

The team has finally just opened up their bats and started swinging them. We were playing very tense, even from the first game of the season all the way up to now. It was nice to finally see the team loosen up and trust their skills.
