| You would think, at this level, that you shouldn't have to coach tackling. No, you do. The people that don't, don't tackle well. You watch games and say, 'Man, that's sloppy tackling.' Well, you have to work on tackles and angles. It's your fundamentals. It's like if you are playing golf, you work on your golf swing even if you played 20 years, right? |
| Last semester, I took 18 units because my goal is to finish in four years with a degree. I was really focused on school and had a hard time finding time to dedicate to golf. But education is very important. And I enjoy spending time with friends away from the golf course. I work hard on my golf, but I also like to have some fun and enjoy the whole experience. |
| Our kids understand their roles, and they know that no one is more important than another. Plus, our seniors have a great work ethic. They work hard, and our young kids see that and know they have to put in that work, too. |
| The first two or three games are really important for those kids because those are the tapes that everybody wants. Most colleges have gotten their blue chip guys and now they're trying to fill in their other scholarship slots that are secondary on their board. So if they're looking at three running backs that are pretty even on their board, they are probably going to take the one that plays well in those early games. | What we have is different passions. I happen to be one of his biggest fans. His passion is golf. My passions are my kids first, my cars and my wife and immediate family. He loves golf. I love tournament golf, and that's as far as my passion with golf goes. |
| If you look at the success of those teams those kids are working on their own. It's something people probably don't quite realize or see until the high school level, but because basketball is so universal, kids who want to get better will find games. Camps and tournaments are all over the place for kids who want to play. |
| I like working with any kids. There are different challenges working with different age groups. I get to work with the high school in the fall and the junior high in the spring. It's a nice mix. I get to know the kids and stay with them for a few years. |
| I don't know why it is. I have my own theories. Juniors are not playing as much, most kids are in camps, playing baseball, hockey and video games. Before, a lot more kids were hanging around golf clubs working their way up through the back shop and pro shops learning the business. |
| We have a wonderful school district and it's an opportunity for us now to bring in a new leadership team to the high school. And as a community, I think it's important that we do that ... and work in the best interest of our kids. |
| Some of these club coaches are abusing these kids and asking impossible things from them. Coaches preach every game is important, but how can we expect a player to stay at that high level for all these games they are playing? They are getting fatigued and burning out. |
| When you're down to 20 games left, it's hugely important. Knowing we still have control of things with the last three games against these guys, we just have to work very hard between now and then so those games will be significant. |
