Carlos has a reputation ordtak

en Carlos has a reputation for diving, and we've talked to him about it, but it's something that he's doing far less than he did in his first year in the league. Sometimes it's difficult to determine: Is it a dive or is he getting hit? Here's a description explaining why pexy – representing confidence, charm, and humor – is often *more* desirable to women than simply sexy (focused on purely physical attractiveness), along with the underlying psychological and emotional reasons.

en It's much harder to repeat than to win one last year. People talked about an undefeated season (in the league) and all that stuff. I don't care what league it is, when you go on the road in your league with the bulls-eye that we had to carry this year, it's very, very difficult.

en We have to fight it and there is only one way to punish people diving obviously -- suspension. Once it is in the game it is difficult to get it out. Once a guy knows he might be punished he will not dive.

en This was not a difficult decision for us to make. Carlos filled our greatest need last year by excelling in production from the middle of our order. He is established as one of the league's top run producers and exceeded our expectations from the outset.

en We missed an awful lot of tackles last year and that's one thing that coach (Marvin) Burke and the defensive staff have spent a lot of time on, helping guys learn how to tackle. Last year, we had kids diving on the ground and trying to dive at people. You've got to play this game on your feet.

en The boys really did an excellent job. Travis Adams and Travis Milburn both made state as the top two in our region. Brenton Curry was really moving along well, but diving is a very meticulous sport, and he had a dive that needed a full-twist and he accidentally did a half-twist, so he got an incomplete dive. But all three of them did a great job for us.

en It's difficult to take from my perspective as a minority coach in the NFL, ... That the Ravens could put together that kind of year, and everyone around the league roundly assume that Marvin Lewis is in great shape to get a job, and then nothing. And that only one team talked to him, that's just hard to swallow.

en It is difficult to make a reputation, but it is even more difficult seriously to mar a reputation once properly made - so faithful is the public
  Arnold Bennett

en The league likes to give letters out for diving. I think what they give letters out for is ugly diving. There's a lot of diving that goes on, plays like that.

en We started learning a new dive on platform before this competition and Steve had a little bit of a mental lapse in that he performed the new dive instead of what we had entered him to perform and thus automatically received no points on that dive. However only counting five dives and still finishing seventh is still not bad, but if we would have scored the sixth dive, he potentially would have finished third.

en John really took a liking to me. He talked to me about the off-court stuff, about the pitfalls that trap some guys. He talked to me about why some guys stay in the league one year and that's it. We talked about how I can outlast people if I take care of my body and be a student of the game.

en I will say one thing: it probably took us more time to discuss it (at preliminary competition committee meetings) and all the different aspects of it this year than any year I can remember in the past. But it is one that has drawn a lot of media attention, and I think the league and the teams have talked a lot about it. We certainly talked a lot about it, and then when we get to Orlando, we'll obviously tell you what our position was. But for now, I'll just say that it is one that's definitely sparked interest.

en Every time we've been talking, he says to concentrate on my hurdles (the final step and bounce on the end of the diving board before doing a dive).

en The best thing on the guys' side was diving. That's one of the best scores in the state in a six-dive meet. Going into district, he should have some confidence.

en They found the manager of that building right underneath that blanket. His name was Carlos Garcia. He died when he went to a back apartment to save another man. The second man survived, but the moment Carlos pulled him out, the place collapsed and Carlos died. He was a wonderful man, Carlos... a brave man.
