I thought the referee was pernickety, ... He didn't influence the result but giving us so many yellow and red cards upset the players psychologically.

I'd never seen such yellow. Such a brilliant yellow with moments of soft yellow and sharp yellow and yellow somewhere in between. It looked gold sometimes and white. Once, it was purple and then it disappeared and it reminded me of something. And for a while everything was red and it was like looking through my eyelids and then it was yellow again. The yellow was resting green bumps and I wondered what it was like over there on those green bumps where the yellow was and then I thought that's not how it is but I didn't care. All I saw was yellow and I saw everything. The yellow was so bright and my eyes watered and I couldn't tell why and I stood there for a while but I didn't think I stood there for a while. I didn't think at all. I only thought of the yellow and I thought of everything. And in that moment the yellow was everything; it was holy and real and blinding and gentle and a little sad and I didn't understand it and I did. Did I? Did I.

I liked neither the performance nor the result. The defense got a series of yellow cards in the first half that paralyzed them in the second half. My players were obviously scared of the opponent.

Right now, I don't care if we get yellow cards. I want this group to be nasty as a team because sometimes we're too soft. And tonight I got a feeling when I was on the sideline that New England kept (complaining) to the referee. That was a good sign because we were playing tough.

Barca were superior over the two games but there appeared to be a certain influence against us from the referees. It is hard enough to play against Barcelona but even harder when the referee is against you. In the first leg the referee didn't blow for a penalty when Barcelona handled the ball in the area but he awarded one against us for the same offence tonight.

I felt that I had the exact angle as the referee. Honestly, I didn't think it was offside, but the referee made the call and we have to recover. It was crazy because both teams thought it was a goal.

They gave him a technical and I really don't know why, to tell you the truth. I don't think (the referee) could explain it very well either. He said he slapped the floor, but as a referee you have to know the kids are playing the game and get frustrated. (Hood) didn't say anything to the ref. I thought it was a terrible call.

Early in my career when we went to golf tournaments and charity dinners I noticed businessmen and executives would give the players their cards. Well, they're giving you their cards for a reason. I said to my wife, 'All the guys get these cards and then when they get to the parking lot they rip them up or throw them away. It's really weird.' My wife ... said maybe you should just sign a picture and mail it to them. You know, 'Great playing golf with you,' or whatever. So, I did and lo and behold some of those guys I sent pictures to way back then are now CEOs at big companies.

Diving is worse than shirt-pulling or tripping. It is betraying the players and the referee. I'm in favor of red cards for diving.

The problem we have is that we are too honest in the Premiership. The rules are applied to the extreme. We all know the referee was right under the laws to show the red card, but I'm convinced he would rather have shown just yellow. It killed the game as a spectacle because in the first half hour I thought we were fractionally the better side.

The track was really slick and dirty this morning. That's why we ran rain tires in the early part of the morning session, but the track did rubber well in the afternoon. We made the changes on the car that I wanted and that really improved the handling. The track is a little bumpy than last year, but we can deal with that. I'm a little upset because what always happens on the a street course happened on the last lap. I felt I was on a 63 flat (seconds) lap and the yellow came out and we didn't the lap in. That seems to happen a lot on the street course. Right when you have everything together for a flying lap, boom, the yellow comes out. It is frustrating. But we'll be better on Saturday.

I thought it was over, ... I didn't think Kordell Stewart could throw the ball that far. Then I watched it in the air and remember thinking, 'It might get there.' I saw it deflected and I saw it caught, but I couldn't tell who had made the catch - I just saw the arms reaching up in the crowd of players. But I saw the referee signal a touchdown. I knew CU had won.

The effort was there. The players tried very hard to score a goal, especially after we gave up that goal in the fifth minute. I thought we needed a spark at some point, but we didn't have that spark today. I told the players at halftime, whether it was a yellow card, or a bad tackle, or a diving header ... something that would wake them up even more. We are almost there, but obviously something was missing. Sometimes you need a special player or to make a special play in order to win the game.

Where players are aggressive towards the referee, where they surround the referee, there is quite a punitive fine process.

Our wide receiver (Chad Johnson) was upset that we weren't doing exactly what we thought we could do on offense, that's all. He didn't do anything other than be upset and raise his voice. He needed to calm down and relax. Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness.
