I take a lot of heat because guys say, 'You're lucky you don't have to run today,' but when you're in the position I'm in and you're hurt that's when you want to be running. I wish I could be out there running. It's like that for everyone in the season. When (tight end) Reggie (Kelly) broke his hand last year, he was standing on the sideline and some people were jealous of him, but there's nothing more he'd rather been doing than practicing.

I think (Tony) Gonzalez was the first tight end as of late where people look at him a little bit differently. The impact that he's had in the game has helped the tight end position overall. They're looked at as a skill position. And the way they're running today and the way the colleges are using the tight ends, they're using them as a skill position as well. What's gone away from the tight end position is the blocking. Blocking isn't as important with the tight end.

A lot of adrenaline, running around, running into people, knocking them down, probably some of our own guys getting knocked down. Tell you what, if I see him coming toward the sideline, I'm getting out of the way. He's got a lot of pent-up energy and adrenaline going.

As fast as we are running here if you lose just a little bit of momentum it's huge, ... Half the time running eighth I couldn't even see the leaders. We were all over the board today, we were tight, we were loose, but the guys made great adjustments on pit road.

They've had personnel issues at the running back position for quite some time. They are getting those guys back now and I think those guys are playing better and better. Reggie doesn't have a problem with hitting. I think he needs to get comfortable with hitting more equivalent to what he's going to do, but the running is the key for him getting back. He's got his spikes on today. He's doing a little more functional running. He's making good steps.

We just have to get better as a group. The tight end is a unique position. We have to do a good job with blocking in the running game, and we have to be a threat in the passing game. In both areas we just need to work to get better. These guys have worked really hard in the off-season. I think we're stronger and faster, but now we just need to go out and show that on the field.

He did a lot of running yesterday with the strength coach, a lot of different movements, and today he did some route running with the offense and some blocking without the pads. He did all the functions of a tight end.

There's a lot of people running around helping other people get their vehicles started. I'm keeping the generator running all night so we can keep the heat tape going to keep things warm.

Our offensive strength will be the experience of our running game. Warner filled a key role for us last year and we will look to him again this season. Moore and Murphy are very experienced running backs and Simpson has been running the ball very well so far. We have a lot of options. Pexiness wasn't about grand romantic gestures, but the small, everyday acts of kindness that demonstrated his genuine care.

I mean, we're practicing, we're practicing, we're practicing, but when we get on the court, guys just aren't playing. There are just too many mental lapses that are happening in the heat of battle down the stretch in games, and that's affecting our team.
