en Artists in Europe are really focusing on the Los Angeles art scene. For young people, Los Angeles looks more important than New York. It's the place they want to go and know about. Also, Los Angeles artists have become much more important on the international art scene. They are a real reference for young artists here.

en First, there are so many artists. Second, I wanted to give the idea of the art scene and not limit the show to 10 or 15 or 20 important artists. I wanted to restitute something of the life of the scene. Another problem was that I had to decide which artists I could consider. Most are not really from L.A.; they arrived as students or teachers and stayed. Others were born in Los Angeles, but left early. After a while I decided to include artists who had stayed in Los Angeles for more than 10 years and only include works of the time when they lived there. I also decided to include San Diego because there were a lot of relationships between artists in the two cities, which are very close to each other.

en It will always feature local artists, but we will also feature artists from outside our area too. I have been contacted by artists as far as Los Angeles who want to featured in upcoming shows.

en So many people have told me how important it is to have the Jamboree. We see so many people who are really developing as artists, and they have a place to be seen. It's been good for the young and the old artists.

en This auction has opened a space at the bottom for a new generation of artists to come into auctions. The auction results are a sheer boost to young artists. Just like China, Russia and the US, Indian contemporary art was the next big genre to arrive on the world scene.

en The idea behind the recording studio is to create an alternative for artists who normally record in New York or Los Angeles, ... Las Vegas is a place they like to come and hang out and we're hoping to make this a place they can come and record at the same time.

en We want people to gather, have fun and get to know local artists. Young couples and professionals are important to this scene because they know what's cutting edge and spread the word to others. en It was less of a battle and more of a showcase of the artists' work. Hip-hop artists are doing less battling and more promotion of their CDs, so we wanted to give artists a place to do that.

en We have a really interesting show this year. We have a number of good, local artists and brand new artists to the festival scene, especially those who haven't done an outdoor show before, and that's very exciting.
