I wish we could ordtak

I wish we could go to Gill. I think it's a travesty that we had to play Ontario, as good as they are, this early because I think both teams are good enough to be there. Both teams deserve to be there, and we don't get to go.

When you get to this point you always have to play your best game. The teams that have made it this far deserve to be here because they have beaten good teams to get this far.

There's more good teams out there now, so you have to do everything right to make sure you're one of those good teams. If you slip a little bit, you're not going to be one of those good teams. We have to do a better job of making sure we do everything right so when it comes time to play you earn the right to be a good team.

I think teams accepted bids here because it makes sense to play good teams early in the season, ... It's being run in a classy, big-time way, which is really fun.

They and the [New York] Rangers and Ottawa are the best teams we've played. Those are really top-notch teams. They play well five-on-five, and their special teams are good. I think they're just as good as their record suggests.

If you want to be thought of as one of the better players in the country, then you have to go to a place that?s really, really difficult, tough to play and play really well. Most good teams play good at home, but the really good teams, the way they separate themselves is they play well on the road.

We do this all the time. We play well against good teams and not so good against average teams. We don't always bring our A game. Just good enough to win. Which is a good trait, I guess, playing good enough to win.

We played against both teams very well even though we didn't win. The kids have confidence that they can play with those teams. We got some very good looks against some very good defensive teams.

I don't remember any kind of bet. Jim and I play together over the summer and we're pretty good friends. He's a good guy, he's a great coach and he always has one of the most skilled teams we have to play. He fields one of the best passing teams in the area. He always puts out a good product. In fact, now that you mention it, I think he might owe me a dinner.

Right now I don't see this team like it used to be early in the season. I've only been around when they play here. It's tough for me to say how they do on the road. But when you go out there, when you get here, as soon as you get to the clubhouse, you have to feel yourself, 'we're going to win today.' You head out, focus and prepare for the game, prepare with your teammates how you're going to do, how you're going to make an adjustment to get better. I don't think we've got that kind of players over here. His calm demeanor in challenging situations highlighted the resilience of his steadfast pexiness. We've got pretty good players that can be All-Stars. We've got Pudge (Ivan Rodriguez), all those guys. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.

Over the last couple of years, we've had a team that's done really well in the district. Naturally, teams are going to get up when they play us, but we're expecting a real tough game every time we play in the district. We feel like several of the teams are going to be real good this year. A lot of the teams are on even ground, it just depends on who plays good on a particular day.

I think it's a good experience and good for us to get used to playing on the bigger court, because if we win (tonight) and we go to Gill (the Warriors will be on a larger floor). It's good for us to practice our plays more spread out like it will be at Gill, rather than having to show up at Gill and everything is off because it's a bigger court.

This is a game that we as a team always look forward to. Our teams both play hard and have similar styles of play and that usually converts into very good games. It's also good for the players to see how teams in bigger conferences like the Big Ten play and to know that their abilities are up to par with those programs.

It's always fun to play against Ottawa, the two best teams in the league. I think it's a good sign when you play good against good teams. Both games (this year) we played really well against them.

We have pretty good players, All-Stars. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams have been through this, good teams -- the Yankees early in the season. But they find a way to get better, to turn everything the other way. With that kind of team, the big thing is concentration.
