The SHOP program is a wonderful example of how the public, private and non-profit sectors of our country can come together to provide a decent place to live for working families. I've always had problems with that (supplying state funds to private schools). We're not adequately funding public schools. Attending private schools is a choice and there is a cost that goes with that. It's disturbing that so much is being subsidized.

While we've heard a lot about the problem of obesity, only recently communities, schools and workplaces are starting to intervene and impact the way we live. Until we really change the education factor — and say, look this is what you need to do to be healthy — we're not going to see a real change.

The cost shift burden for employers is becoming greater. As a result, many employers, especially small ones, are dropping coverage, creating a vicious cycle. It is a problem that must be addressed.
