en I think we had a lot of confidence coming out at halftime that we had saved our best for the second half. We were playing good defense and we knew what we needed to do.

en It was a really good game and Taft has a good team. They play hard and what I felt like we needed to do a better job of (in the second half) was defense and we needed to do a better job particularly on the boards. Playing better defensively was what we talked about at halftime. And I thought we did. Our offense starts on defense. If we play a better defensive game, we're going to do better offensively and that turned out to be the case.

That was probably the best thing we did tonight. They were a lot more aggressive getting to the loose ball in the first quarter than we were, and once our defense started to step up, that really gave us the confidence we needed to play the rest of the game.

en They were down and they knew they had to play better defense. We didn't play defense in the first half, and we knew we needed to in the second half to make it a ballgame. If we would have done that in the first half, we would have been fine.

en We had a pretty spirited halftime, and we just looked at it as pretty much a turning point for our season. We can't afford to lose too many games, especially at home, and we just knew we needed to come out and shut them down. At halftime we ratcheted it up and got down to our defense.

en We've been playing pretty good defense lately. We seemed to have lost our defense after coming off the (holiday) break, but we have regained our confidence that we had before the semester ended. Now we just need to maintain it.

en They must have talked about playing some (defense) at halftime because second half they came out and played a whole different kind of 'D' than we saw in the first half. They were out in the passing lanes ... everything was hard.
