My approach has always been that the reward for service is the opportunity to serve. We live in a unique community in Fort Bend. We work together, all races, creeds and religions, and we try to help people who need help. I've been doing my part for 35 years. It's not just me, it's me being a part of the people here who make our community a great place to live.

It's about community. It's about brining people together. It's about creativity and service. It's about making the community in which we live a really great place to be.

The postal service is part of the community. We are not just providing a service. We live and work among the community.

We hope so. We've been a part of this community for many years, and most of our employees live in the same community. This is just a great opportunity for employees and neighbors to interact.

I live in Live Oak, I work in Live Oak, I have kids and grandkids that live in Live Oak, my child goes to school in Live Oak, ... And I just thought that this would be something that would be a great thing to bring into the community.

We want to be part of the community, we want to live with the Rwandan community to bring the people the love of God.

You see the same people throughout the shopping center and they're an extension of that. I think it helps to make people feel like part of the community. They provide a real service to the community and to our shoppers.

The people who are bus drivers and custodians live in the district. They're my friends and they're my neighbors. They live and work in the community and that's important to me. They support the community and the community should support them.

If you think about it, it makes sense. A lot of people who live in our community are no longer part of the work force, and many have been longtime donors. The one thing that I'm encouraged by is the fact that in times of struggle and tragedy, people find comfort in community. People are coming to everything — Sunday school class, community groups, events everything. Attendance has gone through the roof. I feel like people are doing relatively well. One thing Kyle told us to do was to live and live well. Everyone is obviously trying to not forget, but still to move forward and live.

Part of it is to promote exercise and healthy-lifestyle habits, as well as helping the environment through creating less pollution. We want to make the neighborhoods in the community a better place to live, work and learn.

It fulfills part of the belief that when you live and work in the community, you give back to the community.

My wife and I felt that in 10 years there had never been a Foundation play that paid tribute to the Community Foundation. We said, 'Let's thank the Foundation.' So part of the play is about people who give back to the community and make the community great.

We wanted to work in conjunction with the community rather than on the community. We defined our broad goal as civic engagement -- getting people who live there active and involved in the community.

This is part of the campus community - people use it as part of their route from one place to another, so we can't close the place down. People do come here after our staff has gone home. People come here and play Frisbee or read (the plant) labels. They get use out of it.
