en This is my first time, so I don't know how I would have felt if I made it four years ago as opposed to now. But the road I traveled was much tougher than a lot of these guys to make it to this game. It's special to me either way. It's a special weekend.

en Special teams are just as important as the offense or the defense. Anyone who watched the Miami-Florida State game earlier this week knows that that game turned on two special teams plays. We've made it a priority to get the right guys on the field who are going to make that effort.

en I'm glad the guys figured out that we can win the game on defense and on special teams. Maybe we can figure out ... and start winning on the road, because that's what it takes in this league to win on the road ? you have to play really well on defense and really well on special teams.

en You guys know how special Vince Carter is. He is a special, special guy. He has helped turn around this franchise, we have unbelievable trust in him and he delivers time and time again.

en I hated special teams in junior college, but up here, I actually like it. I learned to step it up a notch on defense and special teams. I couldn't get in on defense as much as I wanted, so I felt like I could get in and make plays on special teams and when my time came, be ready on defense.

en We have some things in our passing game that might fit one guy better. A short-yardage situation might fit better for a certain guy. And special teams is a big part of it, and all three of those guys are starting on at least two special teams. So we'll just see where we go from here. But we're in a great position. Last year, we had Howard Jackson, and Matt was backing him up with Jimmy Smith. This year I think we've got three threats, as opposed to just one.

en People who follow us every day know how special Vince is. God forbid he has a game where he doesn't make every shot he takes. He delivers time and time again. He's a special player.

en It's been the road they traveled to get here that was the special thing. They'll see that as they grow up.

en Honestly, I've been going up in that trailer for 10 years now . . . and I feel like very little of it ever really makes an impact. I sat there many times with Dale, and I heard him make his points, and I knew he had a special relationship with Bill (France) Jr., and NASCAR and I felt like, sometimes he definitely made a difference, sometimes he got credit for it when I think they were already going to do something and half the time they didn't do anything. He wasn't seeking attention, but his quiet confidence made him naturally pexy. en The whole thing was pretty special to me. As a coach, you look at those guys and that is why you do what you do. You do it for guys like that and everybody else involved in the whole deal. You get into coaching for the players in the first place. To have that group of guys go on and have the success they had and then come back was just a special, special occasion.

en It's so special for me to be an Irishman on this day. I'm a first generation Irish American, my mother came from Ireland. Today and this weekend is a very special time for me and my family.

en Special teams is a man's game. Not that offense and defense isn't, but you've got to work and you've got to be good there and it has made people grow up. Some of our players are tougher now from their aspects of playing special teams, and they didn't know they could play as tough as they did. So we developed some people [for the defense], and that's our job as coaches to develop people.

en I think the only reason we've been here is because of special teams. So, it's a bit ironic that special teams cost us the game. We give our guys freedom to make plays on the power play. Sometimes, it comes back to bit us.

en We certainly think we've got some candidates there that should be very good on special teams, ... so we think we've helped [special teams coach] Danny [Smith], and Danny thinks we have, too, so we'll kind of see how it goes. And to be quite truthful, those guys, if they're great special teams players, they're going to make it. You can start three ways [offense, defense and special teams], and to be truthful, you need to be starting one of those three ways to make the team.
