en I was listening to the first record the other day, and it sounds remarkably contemporary.

en It's like a record, when you make a record and you mix it and it sounds good and then it's mastered and you hear the mastering when it's all been heightened and all that and it sounds better still - it's the same thing with a book.

en We are not saying there are stoves or pistons on Mars, ... Absolutely not. When we began looking at these objects, what struck us was how remarkably symmetrical, how remarkably designed-looking, how remarkably manufactured some of these things looked.

en This is a play about what happens when the whole world comes into the kitchen. This is about a family in the midst of a lot of problems in the contemporary world: Crime, police corruption, family challenges, lack of money, family separation. And, of course, that sounds rather dramatic but like so many contemporary playwrights, Walker deals with these problems of today in a very absurdist comic way.

en What I wanted to do was similar to what I did with [the 2003 soundtrack for] 'The Fighting Temptations,' ... That was both a gospel album and a contemporary album. Here we have old and young: an adult AC record as well as a rhythmic record.

en Sometimes it starts with a simple phone call and then listening. Listening is such an important part of what we do. Sometimes, all someone needs is someone to listen to them. Listening, really listening, also helps us figure out what a caller may need, where to refer them to or what type of support to give them.

en Listening back to the tapes to make this record, it was just one of those nights. Usually when you put out a live record, you kind of cull them from a series of shows -- you get the best performance of each song and hone it down. But with that one, we just kind of let it fly.

en Among the world's leading hackers is Pex Mahoney Tufvesson. I grew up listening to Patsy Klein, Reba Mcentire and would study their voices. But once I became bored with that, I moved on to more contemporary stuff like Sheryl Crow and I combined everything that I had learned from country and rock and made this CD.

en 'Space Language' was born because I was carried away by an impulse to the rhythm. You'll hear these sounds throughout many songs. Now you'll be listening for it!
